Birds Eye Cod Fish Fingers
Disadvantages: Quite pricey for 10 fish fingers
I absoloutely love fish fingers, my guilty pleasure being late night fish finger sandwiches covered in salad cream! However I am a bit funny over the fish fingers that do I like. The only fish I really like is cod and it has to be bright white, good quality cod at that. I went off fish fingers a while ago due to eating cheap ones too often (Asda Smart Price ones) and now I do eat them I have been buying these Birds Eyes 100% cod ones.
These set me back £3.00 for two boxes of 10 fish fingers as they were and still are on offer in Asda however usually these cost about £2.29 for a box of just 10 of them which I think is actually rather pricey, however to be fair they are worth the price tag!
These come in an oblong dark blue box with a picture of the Captain on the front and a photograph of a cooked fish finger on there and we are told that they are Birds Eye 10 fish Fingers 100% Cod Fillet and on the back of the box other information listed includes ingredients and allergy advice, there is a ful nutritional chart stated and we are told how to cook them, the weight is stated which 280g for a box of 10 of them and contact details for Birds eye are given. Nice enough and good quality box this is.
The Fish Fingers:
These are very easy to cook and you can grill them, fry them or even oven cook them...me I grill mine from frozen in a few minutes flat and all I have to do is turn them a couple of times to make sure they are evenly cooked through. The ones I have are the ones coated in breadcrumbs and this gives me oblong and thick pieces of cod in a thick bread flavoured orangy coloured coating.
The fish is of superb quality. White, no bones and no skin in sight. Its juicy fish, my fishfingers are never soggy but at the same time although these are crunchy they are not teeth breakingly crunchy either. They are not heavily seasoned and not overly fishy either but simply have a nice fresh taste to them.
With only 185 calories and 0.8g of saturated fat per 3 fish fingers I think these are great and tasty and I quite simply love them!
Available in all good supermarkets etc.
