I love Chicken Breast meat and i frequently eat it; its sometimes a reasonable cost (usually if you get deals in supermarkets); its low in calories and good for you. However, unless im having a roast Chicken dinner when i eat it, it mujst be flavoured (either spicy or BBQ).

Unfortunately my daughter doesnt like spicy things; ive tried her with spicy chicken dishes, curries, even some other dishes which i dont think are spicy at all, but the respons is usually the same...'its too spicy'. So, i thought i would buy her this Birds Eye Crispy Chicken (made with 100% Chicken breast). The quality of the Chicken breast is good and Birds Eye state that its ' 100% Chicken breast responsibly sourced from carefullly selected farms, the majority of which are family owned'.

The Chicken is coated in Crispy batter. The box states that the chicken breast is marinated and the ingredients suggest this, but to me, its tasteless. This could be because i am so used to spicy foods that i just dont notice any flavour; im not sure. My daughter will eat this but its not her favourite; she prefers iy when i get BBQ flavour chicken which isnt spicy but isnt too bland either.

This Chicken is easy to cook; it only takes about 20 minutes in the oven.

Batter (Wheat flour, Water, maize flour, Wheat starch, Vegetable oil, Salt, Raising agents, Spices, Turmeric extract. Dextrose, Pepper extract)

Marinade ( Water, Wheat flour, Salt, Wheat starch, Corn flour, Rice flour, Vegetable powders (Onion, Carrot, Shallot, Leek, Tomato), Garlic powder, Dextrose, Paprika

Breadcrumb (Wheat flour, Rice flour, Salt, Vegetable oil, Water, Yeast )

There is something quite interesting written on the box; i used to think that when food might say something like '40% chicken breast' this meant the chicken was only 40% chicken breast; however, with this Birds Eye Chicken, that is definately not the case.

The Box states ' Why does it state made with 100% Chicken breast if its 51% Chicken breast'

It then answers;

'Made with 100% Chicken Breast means we only use Chicken breast meat in our range. The other 49% relates to the other tasty ingredients such as the coating'

Its good this has been stated as sometimes it can be confusing and personally i dont buy any chicken foods any more that are chopped and shaped; it has to be total chicken breast for me.

Price wise, i got this in Asda for only a £1.00. Its well worth this price as there are 2 portions in the box and it is 100% Chicken breast meat. However, the problem is, its not flavoursome to me and too bland for my tastes.

I would however, recommend it for those who only like plain foods.

Worthy of 3 Dooyoo stars in my view.
