Advantages: tastes great, suitable for microwave or oven
Disadvantages: high calorie and fat content
I love pepper so when i saw the Ginsters Peppered Steak Slice I had to try one!
They cost £1.69 so they are not cheap, however more reccently I have been buying them from the petrol station near me which does them 2 for £3.00.
I always do mine in the microwave, they take 120 seconds, you can also do them in the oven for 20 minutes. I have done mine in the oven once and the pastry was nice and flaky which was delicious, but actually I uch prefer the softness of the pastry from cooking in the microwave.
The slice is pastry with a creamy pepper sauce and potatoe and pieces of beef. The beef is nice and tender which is great, although sometimes I buy a slice and find it has quite a bit of fat in it, other times there is none at all so it is a bit hit and miss.
The taste is very very peppery which I love, but it may be a bit hot for some people, the sauce is nice and thick but not gloopy and the pastry is very soft if done in the microwave.
There are several flavours besides the peppered steak, including spicy chicken, cheese and onion and chicken and mushroom.
I like these as a snack, but it is a very unhealthy snack with almost 500 calories per slice. It is lovely with some chip and a fried egg, or just as a snack on its own.
I rate 4 stars because it is really yummy but is not cheap and has a high fat and calorie content.
Summary: great as a snack or as part of a main meal
