      A tasty and inexpensive snack..

John West Tuna Slices in Sunflower Oil ========================= A snacky type food that is extremely healthy for you. ~~~~~~ Packaging ~~~~~~ It comes in a small green and yellow tin with the obligatory ring pull. Be careful the top is devilishly sharp. I usually have a tin in my bag when working nights. Great when you want something easy and quick. ~~~~ Taste ~~~~ They have that real fishy smell to them and once on toast are simply delicious to eat. My wife and I sometimes have a tin for lunch. Empty the tin into a bowl and a bit of pepper, mash up a bit and serve on hot toast. Very filling and healthy. If your trying to keep a balanced and healthy diet then you can't go wrong here. The are packed with natural Omega 3. Other ways to be eaten are chopped up and mixed in with a salad or my favourite for nights is simply put onto plain white bread and made into a sandwich. De-lish. This is my second favourite snack with Smoked Mussels in sunflower oil being top of the snacks. Don't expect a kiss of the wife afterwards as even with giving your teeth a good scrub your breath will still smell. Although the cat might give you a lick. Oh one more thing I am glad to say that I have never found any bones in the tins, I now there shouldn't be any, with them being fillets, but you never know. Current prices have rocketed and a tin now costs round £1.28 in my local Tesco extra. Greg.

        -

I have had a couple of weeks off my diet as I had got to the stage where I wasn't losing any more weight so I thought I would up my calorie intake and eat what I wanted for a couple of weeks to get my metabolism going again. Now two weeks later I have kicked into my diet again, eating healthy, plenty of protein, cut back on carbohydrate's and now I am beginning to see some results again. I am a big lover of fish, not all types but I do love Tuna, so when I saw John West Tuna Slices, they appealed to me straight away and I put one in my trolley just to try out initially and looking back on it now, I really wish I had put a couple of tins in, as this tinned tuna has got to be by far one of the best Tuna products I have ever tasted. John West is the main name when it comes to tinned fish, whether it is tuna, salmon, mackerel, sardines, you name it, they catch it and prepare it so that when it comes to the end consumer, its it tip top condition and ready to eat. Being the market leader in the UK, Ireland and Holland, John West have also entered another 38 countries with their products, making it one of the best known brands across the world. John West Tuna slices come in a flat tin, with a ring pull at the top of it, the similar sort of packaging that you see the likes of sardines and mackerel in. When you open the tin, it displays fine slices of very lightly pink pieces of tuna covered in sunflower oil to preserve. To look at it initially, it looks really appetising, more so than a normal tin of tuna fish and I could wait to delve into it. For the best results, drain the sunflower oil off the fish so majority of it has left the product. As I am on a diet, bread is out of the equation for me at the moment, its considered a treat, therefore I will eat tuna on its own as a snack, may seem strange but I can get through quite a lot of it and don't feel bad because it is full of protein with no carbohydrate content at all, maybe just a trace, so this means you can eat as much as you like and not feel guilty about it. Inserted a fork in the tuna slices, the fish is very tender and starts to crumble straight away. The taste is fantastic, one of the best tuna products I have ever tasted. Its not at all harsh in flavour, it has a similar flavour to salmon in one aspect and is simply divine. When entering you mouth it dissolves, and the texture is very smooth. The product has obviously had a lot of work put into it and they have only put the finest tuna into the end product. I was left wanting another tin because it was so enjoyable however I had only bought the one to try. For an ideal lunch, this would taste great on a slightly warmed French stick, with a nice dressing on it. If you have not tried these yet, then pop one in your trolley, it tastes fantastic.
