Morrisons chicken and Mushroom pies
Bought from the freezer section, not in my mind my finest buy of the week.
My reasons for buying these were of course they were on offer buy one get one free.
I bought One Steak and Onion and one Chicken and Mushroom, Where the Steak one was fine the Chicken one which is what I am writing about today was far from it I am afraid to say.
I usually like most of Morrisons range but on the odd occasion the really do drop the ball a bit. This in my opinion was one of those occasions.
Why?
The Pastry was to be honest reasonably ok it wasn't the best pastry I have tasted but it was edible. The contents within the pastry were another matter for me.
The chicken was preformed and tasteless as far as I could ascertain and the Mushrooms in the pie tasted like those out of a tin not pleasant, possibly wild couldn't quite get to grips with them the overall taste of the mushrooms was overpowering and unpleasant. I like mushrooms but these were not nice. The sauce I think should have been a white sauce which turned out to be a mushroom sauce. Over powering.
So I think this pie should have been a Mushroom pie with small amount of chicken preformed or not inside it.
As I said before NOT Morrisons better product.
The pie was also too salty and this made eating it an unpleasant experience we as a family would not entertain again. My son who usually eats anything offered asked me quite pointedly not to buy it again. So that tells you how bad this particular product was.
Sorry Morrisons but even us who work there have to eat and this is in my view one of the worst dining experiences I and my family have tried yet. We generally shop in this store not because I work there but because it is usually a good store for food and cheaper than Tescos.
So I find it a shame when we are let down by inferior products.
I have since found other Pies that Morrisons do that are excellent from the fresh baked counter and they are very good indeed, maybe that is the answer here buy fresh not frozen.
Summary: get fresh
