Oxo Beef Cube
Oxo is a brand that has been around for more than a century and is a well-respected name. The Beef Cubes are basically beef flavoured stock cubes. They are used (mainly) to flavour different foods. Oxo not only make beef cubes but also chicken, vegetable etc. and Oxo is also available as granules in a jar.
Oxo cubes come in different sized packs and I generally purchase a box of twelve that cost around £1. Each cube is about 1cm in size and wrapped in shiny silver foil. To use an Oxo cube you simply tear the foil, and crumble the cube. The cube can be diluted in boiling water and then added to foods or added straight to foods that have a liquid consistency. Each cube is a dark brown colour with a strong beefy smell and is basically strong concentrated beef flavouring. Oxo tastes of strong rich, slightly spicy beefy flavours.
Uses for Oxo cubes-
Oxo is most commonly used to flavour meats, stews and sauces. If you crumble an Oxo cube into your mince or stewing steak it adds to the flavour and gives a richer finish. Some people use Oxo diluted in boiling water as a thin gravy and I have also heard of people who add boiling water and make Oxo up into a drink. I have tried this and it tastes great with some pepper.
Overall-
This is a really useful product that I could not be without. For me it is a cooking essential
