Advantages: yummy butter sauce and quite good at only £2

Disadvantages: tiny tiny portions and without the sauce tasteless fish

I had a friend round not so long ago and we both got hungry and i couldnt be bothered that day to cook a mammoth dinner, The week before i was in asda doing my weekly shop and came across Rosses 4 fish steaks in butter sauce which was priced at £2 for four portions , Great i thought thats 4 dinners sorted on them days when i want something quick, the packaging looks quite nice with a nice sized fillet of pollock with the butter sauce poured all over it , i was quite excited about trying them at some point,
So i decided to do some for me and my mate with a bit of mash and some veg. i opened the cardboard box to find 4 small portions of the fish in separate bags that you can either microwave after piercing the bags or boil for 20 mins, i chose to microwave as we was starving. It soon dawned on me that you needed two of the bags each in order to make a meal and that left me feeling right gutted, because what i thought would of made 4 meals with each fish portion costing 50 pence now turned into a pound each. when i looked at the box what i saw before me wasnt what i expected.
after microwaving it was time to take the fish out the bags which become extremely hot ! be warned. i found the best way to get the fish out is to have a bowl cut the tops of the bags and just pour the whole contents into the bowl then you can get the fish out plate them up and add as much or as little butter sauce as you like, because the problem being if you just empty them on to the plate what you end up with is a skinny tiny portion of fish swimming in far to much butter sauce.
Taste wise i couldnt fault it the sauce was lovely the only problem being i had to add more sauce because the fish itself didnt really taste of much which was a disapointment but with two fish portions (i refuse to use the word steaks because to be honest they are thin and tiny ) it does make for a really tasty meal. strange tho because im convinced when i tried the rosses fish steaks in parsley sauce the fish steaks were double the size of these ones. i will have to buy the parsley ones again just to see what the score is .i think all in all they are ok value for money they would have been great value for money if you only needed one portion to make a dinner but even so a pound for fish in this day and age isnt too sad.

Summary: personally i prefer the parsley ones
