Advantages: Great taste and price

Disadvantages: none really

There is no doubt that I have saved a small fortune since deciding to switch to the Sainsburys Basics range where possible. So far it has been a bit of a mixed bag with some real quality bargains as well as a few cheap and cheerful but naff alternatives.

Happily, Sainsburys Basics Fish Fingers are definitely in the 'bargain' column. At just 69p for 10, you really cant argue about the price!

They also taste great, and pretty close to the same quality as the branded varieties. Made using Alaskan Pollock, they have a very nice fishy taste. The breadcrumbs are also nice and crispy and don't fall off the fish in the oven.

My favourite trick with fish fingers is to make them into a sandwich. I usually put 3 fish fingers between 2 slices of white bread and add baked beans and chips. Not the healthiest sounding sandwich in the world but Sainsburys Basics Fish Fingers worked just as well as the Birds Eye variety in my sandwich!

At 93 calories and 3.2g of fat per fish finger they compare favourably with their competitors. The packaging is decidedly no frills but is functional and contains all the necessary nutritional information you would require.

All in all I would definitely recommend these fish fingers as a real money saver. Try them in a fish finger sandwich, I promise, you'll never look back! 3 out of 5.

Summary: A cheap and cheerful winner!
