“ Brand: Sainsbury's / Type: Ready Meal „
I went shopping yesterday and saw this Sainsburys Hot Pot for my husband and it was in the reduced counter fridge, so I thought I would buy it as it was only 50p for a 450g tub, the origanal price says 2 for £4 so I got a huge bargain I thought. I would have bought 2 if they were anymore there but this one was the last one.
It comes in a tub with a film lid which can be peirced before putting into the microwave, it has a little cardboard sleeve that fits over the tub, it is a ready meal and contains succulent strips of chicken, chunky dressed vegetables in a rich gravy, topped with seasoned diced roast potatoes. It is very generous with the vegetables and meat. It is not at all salty as some ready meals that are on the market.
It is freezable but must be thawed out thoroughly before cooking, my husband it is very tasty and the gravy is very rich and good quality. It is very satisfying and filling and I would deffinately buy it at the full price in the future as he enjoyed it so much but I am going to look on the reduced area first to see if they have anymore as you can never tell when these reductions are available.
It takes approximately 5 minutes to cook in the microwave and it is nice served on it's own as it is so satisfying and filling but if it is shared between 2 people you could easily add baked potatoes.
The contents of this pack contain:
34.0g carborhydrate of which sugars 10.7g
13.5g fat of which saturates 3.2g
I recommend this to anyone to try and it is a good quality dish.
This is a frozen ready meal from Sainsbury's. The last time I bought it, it cost £1, and was part of a 4 meals for £3 deal over the range of own brand frozen meals. I know people go on about frozen meals and say they aren't good for you etc, but I think reaching for one of these instead of phoning a takeaway is surely better for you?
The meal comes in a black plastic tray with a cellophane covering. The box for it is alright. It has a nice picture on the front of the meal on a plate and you see the vegetables, Chicken and Potatoes in it. Looks pretty appetising to me, but you know what pictures are like on packaging. The weight is 400g.
You heat this in the Microwave for 8 minutes, or slightly longer depending on your wattage. The instructions are on the back of the box.
This meal only has 300 calories, and I think it is quite filling so it is a healthy, tasty, low calorie meal in my eyes.
Now to the meal, what is in it? There is strips of Chicken breast, Chunks of Carrot and Swede in a light and slightly creamy Sauce. On top there is Potato slices. What I do is spoon this into a bowl when cooked and put the Potatoes at the bottom. That way they soak up the Sauce and I think it is yummier this way. I was expecting hardly any Chicken due to the price of the meal, but there was 5 long bits in my last meal, so it was enough compared to the other ingredients.
My favourite meal in the Sainsbury's frozen meal range. Asda does a similar version, but the sauce isn't creamy, it is more like a Gravy, but they are both worth trying!
Succulent chicken breast pieces, carrot and Swede in a creamy sauce with sauté potatoes.
