“ Brand: Shippam's / Type: Fish „
I was only going to write two reviews today, but when I saw that a suggestion that I had put forward had been passed and I have been wanting to write about this one and the other ones that are in this range as they are so lovely.
I was looking for something different to put into Hubbys packed lunch sandwiches,as he is fussy with certain meats, doesn't like salad in his sandwiches or pickles ect... it can get a bit boring making them, let alone eating them. So when I spotted these little gems on the shelf down the spreads aisle they got me intrigued into what they were!.
Now they come in a short fat dumpy jar with a screw off lid that comes in the same colour as the label, in this case a greeny blue colour. This is Shippams Gourmet Creamy Peppered Mackerel Spread. Almost similiar in texture to a fish paste, this is that bit more creamy, but still thick.
It has a lovely flavour of the smoked mackerel, but not too strong as it is mixed with full fat soft cheese and double cream. I know it sounds odd, but the two together go really well. The jar is enough for two sandwiches as you do have to have it thick and when eaten on a really fresh slice of wholemeal it is wonderful.
You can have this on crumpets, toast, bagels, muffins ect.... I think it is best eaten in a sandwich or on a slice of bread, because this has such a nice taste you will not need to have anything else on this, which suited hubby fine.
Now you can also buy this in 4 other flavours and I have tried all of them and love them all I can't find a favourite one as they are all really nice. The flavours are;
~~~Shippams Gourmet Chicken and Stilton~~~
~~~Shippams Gourmet Coronation Chicken~~~
~~~Shippams Gourmet Tuna Lemon & Black Pepper~~~
~~~Shippams Gourmet Salmon & Cream Cheese~~~
These all come in a 75g jar and are free from Artificial Colours and Flavours, and are also Free From MSG (glutamate). Each 100g contains;
You can also use these little pots as dips with carrots, celery ect.... which makes a nice treat once in a while. Once opened they can be stored away in a fridge for 3 days, but I usually finish a jar on opening it.
The only problem I can find with these is that they can be a bit on the pricey side, costing £1.09 when not on special offer. At the moment they are selling in Tesco's for 54p at half price so thats quite good. I would like to recommend a particular flavour but as I said earlier they are equally all nice. So if you like creamy spreads then I would recommend that you give these a go while on special offer. This offer ends on the 13.12.09 so I'm going to be grabbing a few of these to horde away.
I'm going to give these little pots 5 stars!
