... you should remove them from the freezer and defrost over a period of eight hours or so. I have to admit that, on occasion when I've been pushed for time, I've lobbed them from the freezer into a dish of warm water and they have defrosed in minutes. This hasn't been detrimental to the quality at all in my experience.
Although they are expensive Tesco usually has them on a half price offer three or four times a year, so I stock up then.

The prawns are from the Tesco Finest range, and can be found in the freezer section of Tesco. They are £5.00 for 200g (excluding the ice glaze). The prawns come cooked, shelled and ready to eat once they have been defrosted. These are farmed prawns, and they come from 'tropical waters' according to the Tesco. The ingredients are listed as prawns, water and salt - in that order. Now, I've eat a lot of prawns, mainly on account of them being one of only several shellfish that I like, and these are the best ones I've tasted outside of a restaurant (and actually better than the quality of some I've eaten in restaurants!).
