... than meat! I was surprised seeing as the salt content is so low, but I didn't add any extra salt when cooking just to be on the safe side. The next thing that caught my attention was how it looked. Oh God, it looked awful. Nothing like the picture on the outside of the tin, which shows a rich brown chunky mix. Instead, what I scooped out of the tin was an orange-coloured mush. I usually have an aversion to most tinned foods, as it's stuck in my mind-set that tinned food = unhealthy and bad for you. But recently I've been trying to cook from scratch wherever possible, and tinned foods are a handy thing to have in your store cupboard for when you don't have the time to be going out and getting fresh produce or waiting for frozen things to defrost. I purchased this to test it out and see if it's any good as a substitute for fresh mince. One 392g tin will set you back 95p, and this seemed very good value.
