      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Tesco's pepperoni is, in my opinion, severely underrated. Why are there not more reviews on this amazing stuff?!

      *****Packaging*****

The slices of meat comes in packaging that's of a rather compact, see-through plastic design. There's no lid; you have to peel away the top piece of flimsy material to get to the pepperoni.
I've found that even with the specified corner of plastic designed to be able to peel away easily, it's still quite tough to actually do it! So what I tend to do is whip out the scissors and just cut the top of the packaging away.

Printed on the front on this plastic peel off bit, you will find the title of the product and the Tesco logo on a purple background, complete with an image of some pizzas with the pepperoni on them, acting as a serving suggestion. There's also the bar code and the Nutritional information printed along the bottom quarter, too.

      *****The Product*****

The pepperoni comes in perfectly formed circular shaped slices, the diameter of one measuring in at the very generous size of 6.5cm (yes - I whipped my ruler out :)), and it claims that each packet contains a minimum of 20 slices.

To look at, the pepperoni is quite a dark orange-y colour, and is speckled with various other colours, such as a paler orange, dark white, and, when held under a good light, flecks of deep pink are present.

Regarding taste - there's no doubt that Tesco deserve a big pat on the back for the flavours of the pepperoni. It's gorgeously succulent - packed with flavour and not at all dry.
Only when you've swallowed it does the spice factor kick in, and it's not a taste that'll leave you gagging for water, either, which is what I like about it. It's got the exact amount of spice, in my opinion, to create a great flavour, and not one that's too overbearing either. Top marks, Tesco!
I'd love to furthermore talk about what it's like when cooked - but I have only ever tried it as a cold meat!

Furthermore, I have to mention - the pepperoni has a very strong smell, which may stink out your fridge if you just leave it in it's original packaging without wrapping it up between using it.
Generally, in our household it gets wrapped up in cling film, or put into a container with a lid, or both of these measures!

      *****Price*****

Normally, you get it from Tesco at £1.38, however at the moment it's on offer and available to buy for £1, which is great news!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Will continue to buy

I often buy this pepperoni to make pizzas. Both me and my partner love pepperoni and prefer to make our own pizzas rather than buy frozen. You can find this pepperoni in the cooked meats section of Tesco, in the fridge with the ham etc. The packet weighs 110g and you get around 20 slices of pepperoni in each pack. The pack usually costs £1.38 but until 28th May its on offer for just £1.

The meat needs to be kept refrigerated and usually has a good best before date on of at least 2 weeks. Because it is only 2 of us who usually eat this we tend to use half the pack, wrap the rest up and have it a few days later. This has proven to be fine and the meat has never gone off.

Opening the packet you are greeted by a slight aroma of pepperoni. The slices are of a good size (probably around 1.5 inches round) they are quite thin and a nice deep pink in colour. Because we use ours on pizza we put it in the oven for around 15 minutes, this just warms the pepperoni first and the edges have rarely burned.

One thing I have noticed time and time again from using this pepperoni is how much grease comes out of it on top of the pizza. This doesnt tend to happen with frozen pizzas or chilled pizzas so it is worth noting this if you are on a diet!

Biting into the pepperoni I have always been very pleased with the taste. It is spicy, but not too spicy and it has a nice texture which is chewy but also quite soft. I love the taste of this pepperoni and will continue to buy it time and time again because I think it represents excellent value for money (one packet will easily cover 2 large pizzas).

The pepperoni contains Pork, Salt, Maltodextrin, Glucose Syrup, Garlic, White Pepper, Paprika, Preservative (Sodium Nitrite) and Chilli. Per serving (a quarter of the packet - around 5 slices of pepperoni) contains: 110 calories, 0.1g sugars, 10.1g fat, 4.1g saturates and 1g salt. I appreciate this doesnt make good reading at all but if you are using it on pizza it will probably be as a treat anyway!

As you have probably guessed I love this pepperoni and will continue to buy it. It is good value, tastes great and is a welcome addition to a cheese and tomato pizza!
