“ Type: Meat „
I have been buying this Chicken Roll for some time now, we love it, but especially my cat Dunk goes mad for it , he thinks it is a Purrfect Meal for him.I reckon my cat Dunk could boost your sales in an ad ,as he is such a vocal cat, and I mean vocal, I have never known a cat to be so vocal, and he understands when I say to him Want some Chicken Roll Dunk?He just has to hear me opening the fridge, and he is there for his Chicken Roll.YoursMrs Sandra Mackintosh
I recently tried some of this Chicken roll from Tesco Value range as it was only 96p and thought I would buy it for my grandson for his lunch as he loves sandwiches and I thought it would be a nice change from Cheese which is his favourite.
It comes in a transparent plastic square shaped packet in the usual colours of the value range, and it is 400g, there are 30 round slices of meat, which is a good amount for the price in my opinion, I made some sandwiches for my hubby's packed lunch and he found them fine, but I found them to be a little bland and little taste to them, my grandson ate them and enjoyed them, but I found the taste of the Chicken is not a very strong one, it is mild in my opinion.
The thickness of them is quite a good thickness for the price and they fit between 2 slices of an average loaf quite nicely, and I tried them with just the meat and also with some Tomatoes chopped onto the top and I preferred them with the added Tomatoes much more than just the slice on its own.
My hubby tried them with pickle and also onions and he thought they tasted fine, and I do think these are good for packed lunches with added food and for picnics or party sandwiches.
Each slice contains only 27 calories, 2g of fat and 0.2g of salt.
They do keep well in the fridge for up to a couple of days as with all cooked meats, and I always keep my meats in a plastic container to keep them nice and fresh and so they do not dried out and go all hard etc.
Since there were 30 slices and I know I would not use that many in a couple of days, I popped some on the freezer and when I defrosted them, they did taste exactly the same and although a lot of people do not like cooked meats from the freezer I have always found them fine for my liking and these were just the same.
They are very easy to chew and swallow for both adults and young children and the texture is a nice soft one and place in the bread, they are easy to cut if cutting the bread in half or quarters.
I would recommend these for people who are on a lower budget but I myself did not find them so tasty as some other lower brands of Chicken roll.
I give them 4 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
Tesco Value Chicken Roll - 400g for 94p
My nearest supermarket is Tesco and like lots of other people on a budget I like to try products from the Tesco Value range. These products are all very cheap, some of the ones I have tried have been fine and I keep buying them and other have been quite awful and I have discarded them and never bought them again.
The Chicken Roll comes in a clear plastic tray, it has the usual Tesco Value logo in red on the front along with product information in blue and red text. The clear plastic packaging shows you exactly what you are buying - Chicken Roll.
The packaging is not resealable once opened so this can often be a disadvantage as not many people are going to use 400g of Chicken Roll in one go. It can easily and cheaply be covered with cling film once opened and then stored in the fridge.
The Chicken Roll looks very white in colour, the slices are round shaped and very thin - almost see through. The texture of the Chicken Roll is quite soft and to be honest a bit rubbery around the edges.
I use the Chicken Roll for sandwiches for our packed lunches, it tastes okay and is nice as part of a chicken salad sandwich, it is a bit bland on it's own so it is really preferable to have it along with another filling in your sandwich. Apart from this the only other thing I use it for is my cats. 2 out of 4 like it, other two won't touch it!
The Chicken Roll is very cheap - 400g for under £1. I have been buying a pack every second week or so and I have been using it for packed lunches. Premium brands are double the price for half the amount of the product so for anyone on a budget it is worth buying for packed lunches alone.
The Chicken Roll is very low calorie so it would be good for dieters. The Chicken Roll is not produced in a nut free factory so do not buy it if you have a nut allergy.
The Chicken Roll contains only 55% chicken. As I said before it tastes fine in sandwiches and 2 of my 4 cats like it , I am not really sure what else it could be used for.
Ingredients: Chicken (55%), Chicken Fat, Water, Potato Starch, Milk Proteins, Salt, Sugar, Stabilisers (Sodium Triphosphate, Sodium Polyphosphate, Disodium Triphosphate).

If you are going to buy Chicken Roll for sandwiches then this Chicken Roll is fine for the job and very well priced.
Chicken roll from Tesco is exellent for sandwiches and snacks and salads.
It comes in a square clear packet with a thin pull back lid.
I In the pack there are 30 slices and it is kept in a fridge for freshness. They are round circles of meat.
Chicken 60 per cent
For each slice contains
Trace of sugar( less than 1%
These are a good tasty meat and ideal for childrens and adults packed lunch boxes or in the summer months ideal with a nice salad as a meal.
They are priced at 94p for a 400g pack.
What I also do is I half the pack and freeze the rest for a different time as 30 slices can go along way. They are value slices and I would say for the price they are very good and tasty.
They can be found in the fridge isle of the store.
They also keep well in a fridge at home for 2 or 3 days covered in cling film or foil for longer lasting until needed.
I think you will not be disappointed with these value slices and they are good for a basic range of food.
Give them a try and see.
