A Delish Change From Plain And Normal Scampi

These Wholetail Scampi Kievs are on special offer in Morrisons, £1.99 for a small 2 portion bag instead of £3.99. All I can say is go now and get a bargain, these kievs are sooooooo yummy that less than 2 quid is a brill price!

They are made by Youngs, who make the best scampi EVER, and are basically large pieces of scampi that have been breaded as usual but underneath the breadcrumbs is a layer of garlic butter. That's a mad novel idea and something that I can't believe they didn't invent years ago!

They only take 15 mins to cook and the smell of garlic comes through nice after a few minutes. It doesn't smell overpowering but has got quite a creamy smell that goes good with the normal cooking smell of scampi.

The breadcrumbs are as yummy as they always are on Youngs scampi, the breadcrumbs are a bit looser than on the plain scampi but that's ok because that's not done to hide small scampi as the fish is larger than any other brand.

The scampi is firm and has got a delish moist texture, the flavour is brought out more than usual by the garlic butter and that's brilliant because even though scampi is one of my fave foods I do think it's a bit bland sometimes.

The garlic isn't very strong and even though I can taste it with every bite it doesn't overpower the scampi at all. I was a bit worried when I decided to try these because I thought the flavour of scampi is so faint that the garlic would cover it completely but that doesn't happen.

I was also glad that the garlic butter doesn't make the scampi greasy because I love the breadcrumbs so much on Youngs scampi just because they don't soak up any fat or become greasy. The butter just sits on top of the scampi though and is not much more than a smear so it doesn't get time to soak through the breadcrumbs.

I love this scampi and will deffo buy it again, even at full price it's a delish meal and will go with salad or chips or anything like that.
