I have tried this service on the 14 day free trial. I went to the site through my shopping rewards and earned £2.00 cash back just for trying the service.

It was easy to sign up for and did require a credit card but I find this is fairly standard with a free trial. The claim it is to confirm you are who you say, but they WILL charge this card if you don't cancel your subscription within the 14day period. (I always cancel a few days early because the last day is often too late!)

Once you have signed up you clarify how you want to listen to your audio books and it redirects you to software downloads. I downloaded two free pieces of software.

Then you are free to browse. While there is a wide selection, Harry Potter is not on there and that is what I would have liked. I settled on two Eddie Izzard shows and continued to the checkout where it confirmed I would pay nothing for them.

However at this point I got an error message and when I went back to the checkout the titles where no longer there. I called the 0800 number as by this point I was looking forward to listening to my titles! My call was answered within a few minutes by a man with English as his first language. He was very helpful and clearly instructed me to do a few things. He was friendly and competent and helped me find my titles.

The error was my fault as I had not rebooted my computer since I had downloaded the software.

If I was more 'in to' audio books I would certainly use this site. However, as it is I'm an old fashioned reader at heart and enjoy curling up on the sofa with a dog eared novel! The narrators never read it the way I would have!

A final thought: it might be trendy and clever to use an audiobook as the 'on hold' silence filler, but when the automated messages interupt it, at least ressume from the same point!

Summary: Quick easy and worth a look
