Advantages: Good selection of books, very cheap (especially collections), no clubs/rigmarole to go through

Disadvantages: Junk mail comes in the middle of the catalogue

Every month my letter box is invaded by a little booklet wrapped in shiny packaging. At once I am beset by a conflict of interests. One part of me wants to see what wonderful little bargains are on offer and yet the other part of me is looking to hide the credit card!

I adore this company. They have a vast array of books and the beauty is that you have no obligation to be drawn into some absurd club to buy every month. Neither do you have the ordeal of having to affix a stamp here, a label there and stuff a reply envelope promising you the chance of winning a car, half a squillion a champagne reception in Park Lane. (I just want the bloody book!)

No, this is a catalogue of books priced at a very competitive rate. They've certainly raised my own personal stockpile. For me their best selling point are their collections. I've had a good few of them and the prices are often absurd. Quite often they are a mere tenner and thanks to them I now have masterpieces such as Clockwork Orange and The Green Mantle stuck in me bookshelves!

It isn't just fiction they offer. You get an excellent array of childrens' books to choose from, lifestyle, culture and history along with anything else you can think of.

I feel the size of the catalogue is just about right. You don't have to trawl through mounds of pages and that is a blessed relief. Quite often as well there are end of line promotions to be taken advantage of (these tend to be online) and can be obscenely cheap. I tend to use their website for ordering and you can find a lot of back-catalogue stuff on here as well. Ordering is relatively straight forward but it helps to have your password ready.

Deliveries come in well packaged boxes and (touch wood) I've had no mistakes as yet.

I also find this company very useful for the old Xmas shopping. Highly recommended :D
