Advantages: Limited selection makes choice much more simple
Disadvantages: None
My husband and I travel a lot for work and each time we stay away overnight - whichever one of us it is - we bring our children back something. In their very early years this was toys, however as soon as they could read for themsleves we changed this to be books.
This is where the Book People have really helped. We can often be away one or two nights a week and that means my children have enough books to rival the local library's collection! As you can imagine it was starting to become quite an expensive habit until we came across the Book People.
The value for money for their books is really outstanding. Couple this to the fact that you can earn points for each purchase which can then be used to buy more books makes them a great bookseller in my opinion.
I accept that they do not always have the most up to date choices, however the prices they charge for sets of books are great. We have over the years bought a large number of sets of childrens books which we then seperate out and hand out one at a time. Sometimes I have paid as little as £6.99 for a series of 6 books - thats only £1.25 a book.
They also group their books by age category which is great for a quick glance if you are unsure whether a title is age appropriate for your child.
There are also regular offers which come in with the catalogue allowing for free delivery if you spend over £25.00 and I have so far managed to not pay any postage - other than for the very first order I placed.
I would really recommend the Book People as a direct seller of books - yes Amazon is also fab, but when you want a quick choice and are not really sure what to buy the more limited options in Book People make things much simpler!
Summary: They make it easy to see what is age appropriate and buying could not be simpler!
