Advantages: The price, the service, the variety

Disadvantages: None

I placed an order with The Book People after seeing a leaflet that came with a magazine. As far as I could see there were no catches - it's not a book club in as much as you don't have to buy a certain number of books in the first year which most of the others require you to.
I bought a set of 10 childrens' books for £9.99, they would have cost over £40 if bought separately in the shops. I was very impressed with the delivery time too, I sent a cheque on a Monday and the books arrived on Friday of that week. It does say to allow 7 working days for delivery; this is the standard service for which you pay £2.95. If you want your order the next day the charge is £4.95, and if you're an OAP it's £1.50.
What I like about The Book People is they don't constantly bombard you with requests to buy from them. You do get catalogues sent every month or two, but you are under no obligation to buy anything. I have been a member of BFC (Books For Children) in the past, and was not impressed. Every month you have to notify them if you don't want the "Editor's Choice", a book they have selected for the age range of your child; if they don't hear from you they will automatically send it. This seems daft to me - surely it should be the other way round, if you actually WANT the book you should inform them. Needless to say I'm no longer a member!
If you need to order any last minute Christmas presents, The Book People say that if you place your order by 21 December you will still receive your books in time for Christmas. To see their latest catalogue, their website is: www.thebookpeople.co.uk/issue66.htm
You can also order by post, phone or fax, and the phone number for enquiries is 0870 6077780.
There are books here to suit all ages and tastes, and the discounts are excellent. I definitely recommend that you give them a try.

I agree with your opinion on BFC & The Book People. I also think the Book People are excellent value, they are so cheap and the books are perfect, I don't know how they do it !!
