Psst - Are you on the look out for cheap Christmas presents, well let me point you in the right direction. If you are like me and are a book lover this opinion is for you.

The Book People are one of the largest UK suppliers of top quality books for reasonable prices. They issue a mail order catalogue that contains 29 pages of bargain books. They are not a book club so you only order what you want and no obligation to buy a certain amount of books in any period of time.

Let me wet your appetite by letting you know some of the offers currently available in their October, issue 76 catalogue.

Kippers Christmas Eve – Publishers price is £10.99 and they are currently selling the book in hard back for £3.99. The book tells a lovely Christmas story and the back page even contains a flashing light hidden in the page.

Robbie The Reindeer, Hooves of Fire – Publishers price of £9.99 you pay £2.99.

Children’s annuals for 2002, Bob the Builder, Fetch the Vet, Arsenal and many more are selling for £2.99 each.

Guinness World Records 2002 – Publishing price is £18.00 their price is £8.99.

From the above list you can see that the books are recent and there are great savings to be made. They also sell educational books for children of all ages and seem to also supply a number of autobiographies.

If you are after cook books for the man or woman in your life here you will find a very large number to choose from such as Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver and the queen of cookery Delia Smith.

Now if you need further persuasion and the prices alone were not enough they also offer book points. You collect book points with every book your purchase from the catalogue. The number of points you earn is next to the book you wish to purchase. Obviously the more expensive the book the higher the book point. Total them up at the end of your order and you can redeem your points. Any poi
nts not redeemed at the time of order will be left on your account to use against future purchases.
Here is what you get with the points you have earned.

50 Points and you can choose a free book to the value of £2.99
75 Points and you can choose a free book to the value of £4.99
100 Points and the book value is £6.99

** Postage **

Standard Delivery charge is £2.95

Next Day Delivery charge is £4.95

Evening Delivery surcharges apply of £1.50

They do offer concessionary rates for postage and packaging if you belong to any of the following categories:- OAPS, The registered disabled, registered carers, foster parents and registered child minders.

Sometimes they also send you vouchers that entitle you to free next delivery when you spend over £35 an order. This figure can be easily reached especially when you show your friends the catalogue they always want to order as its ideal for all those birthday parties your children get invited to and the books are such great quality that people think you are spending more than you actually have.

If you want to guarantee your books to arrive in time for Christmas you will need to place your order by midday on 17 December for standard service and on 21 December 2001 when using the next day delivery service.

Let me reassure you that I have now used the company on a number of occasions and they have always supplied top quality books and the deliveries have always arrived on time. I place my order by telephone and pay by credit card but there are a number of ways to order and pay, such as their order form at the back of the catalogue and also via their web site. However by using the web site quite often the vouchers they sometimes provide will not be valid via this facility.

Well I think I have covered anything, but if you wish to find out more about them their number is 0870 6077740 and their lines are open from 8am until 8pm
.

Happy Shopping.
