I saw an advert for Just Good Books and thought it seemed like a good deal - the books were priced at very good prices compared to the shops and your only commitment was to buy 1 book from them in 6 months, so I went ahead and ordered 6 books with one being included free as an introductory offer. They say if you order a minimum of 3 books that there is no postage to pay.

Well after a month the books hadn't arrived and I rang Customer Services which is an ordeal in itself. The number was constantly engaged from 9am right through the day. After several days of trying I eventually got through and they explained that the books would be delivered within a week.

The books eventually arrived but out of the 6 I ordered, only 3 turned up. The other books were "out of stock" with the promise that they would be delivered as soon as they had a new delivery. When I looked at the invoice, I was annoyed to see that instead of charging me the introductory prices on the books that they had charged me various different prices - instead of my bill being £10.50 they had charged me £19.50 plus postage and packing. After many attempts at phoning them, I eventually got through and explained that they had overcharged me. They told me to send them a cheque for £10.50 which I did.

They also have a website where you are meant to be able to register with them and are then able to see your account details online by typing in your membership number, giving yourself a user name, password and your e-mail address. Well I have tried to do this repeatedly and keep coming up with the message "your club profile could not be updated - invalid membership code". I sent them an e-mail and they replied, telling me to do exactly what I had been doing already but to no avail. I then sent them another e-mail stating that the site would still not accept my details and also that I am not a computer novice - the instructions are easy to understand but t
heir site isn't working! As of yet I have not had a reply.

Yesterday when I got home, I found a box outside my front door which had probably been there all day, which had one of the books that I had previously ordered and which was out of stock at the time - anybody could have picked up that box during the day - not a good idea to leave it outside the house!

I am still waiting for the rest of my books to be delivered and am still trying to register my details on their website - I hope things improve but this is not a good start!

Not impressive then! I have had a few bad experiences with book clubs too, several similar to those problems. I am still waiting to receive a book I ordered for a Christmas present!
