Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Poor customer services, non delivery, incompetant staff

Virgin Megastore is now Zavvi, whatever that means.

Zavvi is much more expensive for CD's, DVD's and software than the old Virgin Megastore used to be. Prices are lower in HMV.

My first trip to Zavvi is most certainly my last and I am very wary of trying their website site for purchases after my horrendous experience with their customer services.

I went into their Carlisle store to buy a particular CD of drum music that I fancied. There is a lot of stuff in there including speakers for MP3 players, wire and leads, as well as the usual range of audio and visual discs.

They didn't have the CD I wanted but a pleasant young man took me to their computer ordering terminal, found what I wanted and promised me that if I paid for the CD it would be delivered free of charge to my home. This was on the 9th of September 2008.

By the 19th of September I hadn't received the goods so I called Zavvi's local store and was assured that it would be delivered within two days.

They claimed that they had a computer problem, hence the delay.

A week later it still hadn't arrived and a phone call to their head office revealed that it had already been dispatched (or so they said). By 30th September it still hadn't arrived.

On 2nd October I called the local store again and was told that my order didn't exist. I pointed out that I had a receipt for said order.

The person on the phone said that I had paid for a title that didn't exist but was listed on their ordering terminal. He offered a refund but said that I would have to go to the store to get it.

On 4th October I got a refund of the full amount and on the reason for refund form I filled in the assistant had written, 'customer won't wait any longer'. I crossed this out and entered the words, 'Customer paid for a non existent CD and was messed around for 23 days before being offered a refund.'

I have heard other horror stories about this store. If you go into a store and can physically buy what you want at the price you want to pay that's fine but if they say they will order for you and deliver to your home, take care.

Even the staff in the store were complaining about the poor customer services at their head office.

I for one will not use Zavvi again because they not only messed up my order but didn't even apologise for the inconvenience. To be honest, they don't deserve the business.

Summary: Useless setup. If they say they will deliver don't hold your breath
