Zavvi renamed from Virgin MegaStore, no doubt because it damages the Virgin brand name. I have ordered DVD's from the Hastings branch in Priory Meadow to be delivered to my address (as they where not in stock), I never received or heard from this order again. I have asked Zavvi (Virgin Megastore) were they are but there staff unable to find the order, and claim that there is nothing they can do. Under empowered staff is a bit of a theme in the Virgin brand I note and I have found this on there Trains and Planes to (bad service and self obsessed staff). I would rather go to HMV and pay a bit more as you received it and have a new item not some returned item. However, it must be understood Zavvi like other high street brand in the bad books like Currys, PC World and Dixon (note that are all one business) are struggling to survive and are operating in a climate of Gordon Brown's high taxes, Alastair Darling's high overheads and consequently are using very small margins to get by. I have had Currys lie and falsify documents to get out of guarantees, although I have both version of the documents. The reality is, I think is that these stores are selling the wrong stuff and if they continue, they will be "on the way out" and will become a relic of pre-internet shopping, this is because they are trying to sell small margin stock in a low volume way and this is inefficient as there high street overhead make there margin so small. They are competing on price with internet shopping that do deliver on promise but do not have the overheads of the high street address and can make there numbers through bulk and volume sales at a lower prices. Once upon a time you would go to shops like Zavvi although items where artificially priced high, but came with a no problem grantees (a so had added value, over an internet shop), now the guarantee are worthless and the prices are so low you may as well use the internet shop. However there is one ace up shops like Zavvi's sleeves that they have not exploiting and that is they are secure to purchase from then internet shops, however they have not seam to realize that and are dumbly operating as they always did. Dinosaurs can adapt!
