OK for magazines (WH Smith)

Advantages: A nice selection of books and magazines

Disadvantages: expensive and untidy

I don't tend to shop in WH Smiths and when I went in there today I realised why. They seem to be so overpriced. I was looking in the window and saw a CD I liked for only £4. I decided to go in and have a look. Unfortunately the CD was not in stock. I decided to have a look at the other sale items and there wasn't much around to be quite honest. They had their Christmas stuff in Buy 1 get one half price although they seemed quite expensive to start with so I wasn't overly impressed with that either.

Most WH Smith stores are well organised and tidy, on this particular day the store was very untidy with pages of magazines trampled all over the floor. WH Smiths have a good selection of stationary and printer paper however with places such as Tesco and ASDA selling this these days at a fraction of the cost there really is no need for me to buy that sort of stuff in WH Smiths.

I find that WH Smiths are best for magazines and books they always have the lasted magazine/book in stock. I have ordered a few magazines with them however on a few occasions these have gone missing and on one particular occasion I didn't get my money back - this was partly my fault however as I didn't chase it up, then again I shouldn't have to really! The staff are moderate, I wouldn't say they went out of their way to help but they are not rude either.

I do like WH Smiths but I find compared to places like Ebay, Tesco, Woolworths they are just too expensive, even cards and wrapping paper is expensive. I would only go to WH Smiths if I wanted a specialist book/magazine.

Summary: Not my first choice but OK if I need a magazine
