Advantages: Big range
Disadvantages: Too pricy, can get most items cheaper somewhere else
W H Smith is kind of like a big corner shop. I always used to think of it just as a book shop but it sells a lot more than that.
My local W H Smith sells books, magazines, cds, dvds, stationary, art supplies, games, cards and gift wrap and have recently added a pick and mix section. Although it sounds great that a shop sells this many different things, my local store seems very cramped because of it. If there are more than a couple of people standing in one aisle, its very hard to walk through the shop.
Although it's not a specialist book shop so it probably wont have everything you're looking for, it does have an ordering service. Smiths prices are pretty normal compared to other places like Waterstones but Smiths seem to have more offers on and quite often. I normally buy most of my books online but i do like to have a look through their half price offers every week.
Smiths does sell a great range of stationary and school supplies but i find them very over priced compared to other shops like Wilkinsons. Im not one who needs fancy looking folders whith characters all over them so i dont see the need to pay £3.99 compared to the £1.99 i can get it for in other places. Especially with the current credit crunch happening, i want to save as much money as i can.
Sometimes a great shop but more often than not ill go elsewhere.
Summary: Sometimes good, sometimes bad
