Go get your books somewhere else! (WH Smith)

Advantages: Has a huge range of books

WH Smith is a high street store that I am sure everybody has heard of, there seems to be one in every town or city and the store sells books, magazines, stationery, music, DVDs and videos. It is not a shop I seem to go in any more as there are so many more bargain stores around and what with supermarkets selling so much more there just isn't really a need to visit WH Smith any more.

I think the problem WH Smith has is that it is more expensive than other stores and whatever item people are wanting to buy if they can buy it cheaper elsewhere then they will. I love to read books when I have the opportunity but I never buy them from WH Smith. If I want a book brand new then I will probably buy it from Tesco but otherwise I go to our indoor market where you can buy a book and when you want to buy another you can exchange your old book and get half of your money back. With places doing things like that there is no need to buy from WH Smith.

It's not just books I seem to find overpriced, everything they sell is more expensive than in other shops. The stationery for example is really expensive and so is there gift wrap and cards. In fact the only items that cost the same as in other shops are the newspapers and magazines and thats only because they can't change the price.

On the positive side the shop does have a huge range of books and no matter what you seem to want they will have and if they don't then they can get it for you. I have in the past ordered books from there that I cannot get anywhere else. WH Smith does often have special offers on too, 3 for 2 and half price books can often be found in store, especially in the run up to christmas.

Even though most of my review is negative I don't dislike the store and will often go in for a look around. I just think there is too much competition from rival stores and supermarkets, we no longer have to buy expensive things when there are so many cheaper alternatives available.

Overall a good store that has plenty to choose from and a great range of books but it really needs to lower its prices if it wants to keep the customers rolling in.
