Advantages: Better quality products
Disadvantages: Some prices are ridiculous
WHSmith is a shop where many people go to buy their notebooks, pens, ink cartridges and folders. WHSmith also sells magazines, newspapers and other confectionery. Again I'll say that you're better off doing your stationary shopping somewhere like Wilkinsons despite the lesser quality of the products sold there. WHSmith sells folders and notebooks at what I deem a very expensive price. Some of the products aren't great quality anyway but they are superior to other shops I have to say.
However there are several WHSmiths locally and sometimes it is the quickest and easiest place to buy gifts that are very nice just at a much larger sum of money you would pay at your supermarket. I was very surprised to find that they sell chocolate bars for almost a pound. The average bar costs about 85 pence and it is not unusual to find them above 90p! I think that's awful seeing as you could buy two for under that at Wilkinsons. On the other hand it isn't too hard to find a deal at WHSmith's which make the cost a little less.
Buying books off amazon is also a much cheaper option which is also just as convenient. I think it's a fine place to buy gifts but for things like pens you might as well go to Wilkinson's where the exact same product, same brand and all is available for half the price. You can sometimes find a decent deal so don't stop searching.
Summary: Gifts only
