Advantages: Reliable, good choice of books

Disadvantages: You can never leave (a bit like Hotel California)

I used to be a regular member of World Books for about 4 years but decided to stop my membership, and I didn't have any problems in doing so. However, since then, every couple of months I receive a leaflet from them saying 'they've missed me' and 'what can they do to tempt me back?' The answer, according to them is not only an offer similar to the ones you find in leaflets in magazines everywhere, but also a magnificent (not!) watch with a picture of a cartoon cat on it. An uglier watch I have not seen, and I imagine it would be well at home as a booby prize on Blankety Blank! Each time I receive one of these leaflets I throw them in the bin, but I still receive the odd phone call from them asking if I want to go back to them. I always tell them 'no thanks' but they don't seem to believe me and tell me they will contact me - if I don't mind - in 6 months or so. As far as a company goes, they are very reliable and helpful, but the problem is, once you leave, they don't leave you alone. Now if only the watch was a Gucci !

Nice one don't blame you.

Actually, it is best to write 'UNSOLICITED' in big red letters and also circle the return address in red. I did that once when I was being bombarded with leaflets. They didn't send any more after that - what a surprise...

To stop getting their mail all you need to do is write in huge capital letters REFUSED and shove the envelope back into the nearest postbox.
