Hedex
by jeanclifford
It's not often I buy Hedex tablets and the only times I take these is when I have a strong headache that I know won't shift by using just paracetamol on its own. I have never suffered from migraines but my partner does and he tells me that these are one of the few non prescription drugs that work for him I helping him with the pain of a ... migraine.
I buy these from Boots where they cost £1.90 for a pack of 16 tablets. They come in a cardboard box and inside the box there is the blister pack. I take two at once and they work so much faster than a normal paracetamol tablet does. I also think that they are effective in keeping pains away for longer than a paracetamol does. I take these not just for headaches but also back pain and neuralgia too and last time I took them was due to me having a really bad flu with all the nasty symptoms of general body aches and pain, high temperature and the shivers.
The tablets are white and quite long and because they are long, they are easier to swallow. I take mine with half a glass of water. I can feel them working very quickly and in most instances, it takes no longer than about ten minutes of so before I can first tell the pain is gradually starting subside. These are not suitable for children under the age of twelve and I think you'd have to be careful if you are pregnant if you wish to take these.
They work well for me I'm told because they are a mixture of both caffeine together with the paracetamol. I have no idea why taking caffeine with a painkiller would make them work quicker as I'm not medically qualified, but all I can say is that I know the results of these tablets are very impressive at getting to the root of pain and keeping it at bay so very quickly.
They are not something I take too regularly but only if I have severe pain. I believe these painkiller suit me perfectly and I do highly recommend Read the complete review |

Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets
by basketofbuttons
If I have been feeling anxious my digestive system is often the first thing to suffer and it usually results in heartburn and acid reflux. Usually I take either a shop's own brand of symptom reliever or I use the bottles of Gaviscon. My husband thinks I am strange as I actually really enjoy the taste of Gaviscon liquid. I love the way ... it sticks to the roof of my mouth and has a bit of a bite about it, not to mention the lovely peppermint taste. Unfortunately, taking a bottle of Gaviscon to work with me isn't an option and I was therefore delighted to discover that they are now doing the same stuff in tablet form.
I buy these from Superdrug where they currently cost £4.40 for a little plastic tub with a flip top lid, for 32 tablets. They are so handy and very convenient to use and I just pop two into my mouth whenever I feel the first signs of either heartburn or indigestion.
These tablets work very quickly for me personally and I have found them to be one of the best antacids on the market. They are more expensive than the Tesco own brand tablets I also buy, but they do work more quickly and they also keep the symptoms at bay for longer, I think.
Thee tablets taste almost as nice as the Gaviscon liquid but they are more like sucking on a tiny peppermint sweet than anything else. They are not too strong on the peppermint front, milder than I had expected them to be, but still ever nice to taste. The active ingredients appear to be 250g sodium alginate, 133.5mg sodium hydrogen carbonate and 80mg calcium carbonate. I don't get heartburn too often, but when I do I have learned that it's best to nip it in the bud very quickly with these tablets as they really do keep the worst of the symptoms at bay.
They are so handy and very convenient o take and I'm delighted with how well they work.
Highly recommended. Read the complete review |

Boots Congestion Relief Capsules
by xxfoxyredxx
Very often I get sinus trouble. Whether its just generally a bunged up painful feeling or because of allergies I've always suffered this way and its miserable and its painful!
I have dabbled in my time with cheap pain relief for this problem and had hit and miss experiences with those remedies so recently when I was in Boots I ... got taking to a lovely Pharmacist about my problem and she suggested these to me and I paid out £4.79 for a box of 24 capsules which I thought was fair enough!
The Packaging:
The caplets come in an oblong box with a picture shown of a face on there and we are clearly told what they are and who they are by and that there are 24 in the box then on the back of the box we are told a bit about the product and dosage advice is given along with the ingredients listed and a couple of warnings and contact details for the manufacturer are clearly stated then inside the box you you get two white plastic blister packs as to which the capsules are easy to pop out of and they are foil backed clearly telling us on there what they are and then there is a leaflet in there as well giving us yet more information about the capsules.
The Capsules:
Round in shape and yellow in colour they are not overly big and basically to me look like run of the mill tablets. The dosage of these should be to take 1 as needed up to 4 times a day for children and adults over the age of 12.
They are easy to swallow with a good drink of water and for me these are quickly effective and with lasting effects for a good 3ish hours which is quite a long time I think of having relief from something like this!
These contain 12mg of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride in each caplet and this is a mediation to help open up the airways basically and allow better bloodflow. I find these get to work on me in about ten minutes flat from the moment I take the one and I feel I can breath more easily, I don't feel so stuffed/bunged up and sometimes my head can feel like it weighs a ton, my thinking gets foggy and I feel headachy and sometimes even lightheaded...this stops all that in there tracks and allows me to breath without having to think about it!
I highly recommend these, they are not a cure for a sinus problem, they just help to control it and I think they are a good quality and highly effective product that really is worth the money and mine are sat in my handbag at all times, especially in this hayfever, odd weather we are having at the moment!
