Advantages: STOPS BLEEDING, PROMOTES RECOVERY
Disadvantages: expensive
Ouch I have hurt myself my husband said, blood dripping from his arm. Sit down I told him and raise your arm .I applied pressure to the wound then investigated it, it was a clean cut a superficial laceration about half an inch long, longer and I might have considered going to A&E for stitches. I then washed my hands telling him to keep pressure on the cut I wiped it clean using water and a sterile cloth its still bleeding he bleats So I pressed the sides of the wound together keeping his arm raised and I reached for the first aid kit. I dabbed his skin surrounding the cut with cotton wool to dry it and then found some….steristrips I cut one in half or it would have been too long. I peeled the steristrip from its protective backing and stuck it on one side of the wound pulling the cut skin together and then I stuck it the other side of the wound I then took the other half of the steristrip and did the some action a little further along the wound. I thought a third piece of steristrip would be useful to keep the wound together so I applied another piece. Well the wound has stopped bleeding looks clean, he had cut it on his saw in the garden I knew he had just recently had a tetanus jab so no need for a jab he will try and keep it clean and dry till it heals I shall keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t go red, swell, or ouse liquids from it. I kissed it better and made him a cup of tea now I knew he would not need an antiseptic at age This emergency using steristrips was entirely fictional no husband was hurt in its production. I have used steristrips on him, children and myself at work when I needed a plaster to keep the sides of a wound together Steri strips are useful for a cut to keep the sides together. They are fairly expensive about £8 for 10 thank you for reading a few more pennies so I can spoil my new grandson at Christmas.

- 11/12/02 These are good. Glad you mentioned cleaning the wound properly first though - after an accident when I was younger I was taken to a certain hospital who didn't clean the wound properly then applied these. The fact they do such a good job at keeping the wound together means not a lot can get out (like dirt) - as a result I got blood poisoning... the sort of thing a person would have sued a hospital for these days, but it wasn't really heard of then! (And that was only about 15 years ago) |

- 09/12/02 I'm pleased to hear no husbands were harmed in that opinion, LOL! I think it would be taking it a bit far if you had to cut Hubby, just to check out a Dooyoo product!!! ;-)
