Bonjela
by milmol7
Bonjela is a treatment for mouth ulcers, denture sore spots and cold sores for adults. For my review I am referring to my own experiences, and when I use the term "mouth ulcer" I need to say that don't suffer with severe mouth ulcers, and my experiences are based on fairly mild ones, which although not serious, and are tiny, ... are incredibly painful and miserable.
Bonjela comes in a blue box inside which is a tube about 4-5cm long which contains the product. You break the foil seal inside the white screw cap and the Bonjela is easily squeezed from the tube. The Bonjela itself is a clear gel with a flavour which is mildly aniseed. I hesitate to say that, because I dislike aniseed personally but I don't mind the taste of Bonjela ... it's the nearest flavour I can liken it to, but it's subtle enough not to offend me.
It's applied by squeezing a small amount onto your fingertip and then rubbing directly onto your tongue or inside cheeks, wherever the troublesome area is. You only need to cover the ulcer with a thin layer, so you really don't need to use very much at a time at all. The action of the gel is to form a film over the ulcer, which protects it and starts the healing process. Once applied, you can't feel the film or detect any dryness, but there's no denying that the Bonjela gets to work.
I have always found Bonjela to be very effective and always have a tube handy "just in case". Firstly I like it because if I do get a mouth ulcer, they are really uncomfortable, and the best thing about Bonjela is that it gives me immediate relief, acting almost like a mild anaesthetic to the area. Secondly, though, and most importantly, I always find it to actually work and heal mouth ulcers, particularly overnight. It contains antiseptic to help healing and bring the inflammation down. If I apply it before going to bed I can always guarantee that by morning the pain will have gone and the ulcer itself practically healed. I also use it when I sometimes get annoying (but really sore) little cracks at the corners of my mouth, although the packet and information doesn't reference that as a use. Again by applying at night they are always easier by morning.
After a while (a few months) I do notice the end of the tube sometimes getting a bit crusty where residues of bonjela have been left behind - if it hasn't been used for a few months, for instance, so it's important to remember to keep the end of the tube clean, or it can get tricky to get the screw cap lid back on. Also, as I don't suffer particularly badly, I very often find that I'm needing to replace the tube when there's still between a quarter and half a tube left, because after its been open a while (up to a year) the bonjela gets thicker and more difficult to apply - and presumably maybe less effective. In that respect you don't get your full money's worth, but this is outweighed for me by the need to keep one in stock for when it is needed.
I recommend bonjela 100%, for it's pain relieving as much as for its healing properties. What more can you ask of a product like this? Read the complete review |

Galpharm Loratadine Hayfever Relief
by myloh
I'm reviewing galpharm one a day Allergy and Hay fever relief tablets.
The pack contains 7 and mine are bought in Poundland or Poundworld.
_____________________________________
***WHY I BOUGHT THEM***
I was always inclined to a touch of hayfever ,but it was never extreme nor prevailing and would ... occur in short bursts of just a few days in really dry summer time (when we get those), but then a couple of years ago it became more persistent so I visited my doctor and he suggested it seemed more of an allergy rather than hayfever. He prescribed meds .These worked sometimes, but not always and it was perplexing trying to establish what the allergy was until I finally realised that the reaction had got worse since we got our rescue cat Freddy. Mystery solved. I had a reaction ,albeit slight, to little Freddy.
Well, there was NO question of dumping our Freddy, so I resolved to cope with the reaction with over the counter meds and after successfully using a few of the expensive ones I finally decided to try these Poundland ones......just to see if they did the same job.
They do.
***USING***
Couldn't be easier. The tablets are really VERY small and easy to swallow and you just need one a day
There are 7 tablets in the packet in a bubble wrap sheet , so you just pop the pills through the plastic to access them.
Best taken early morning I find,so that the relief gets started early and you can get on with a symptom free day.
There is leaflet in the pack,so read that carefully before using .
They recommend that if you have severe liver problems you use these at a rate of just one EVERY OTHER DAY , rather than daily.
Plus you mustn't use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
***RESULT***
They work. It is as simple as that. They are just as effective for me as the more expensive brands and although I use them most days, there are lots of times I forget or have run out and I get along fine without them for a few days till the symptoms kick in again,so I'm inclined to think they build up in my system so I can get away without using for a few days just fine when I need to or have no choice.
But then again, my symptoms are annoying (teary eyed, runny nose) but not that intense, so they might not suit extreme sufferers. But at £1 per week I think them worth giving a trial run.
They are suitable for children over the age of two.
*****PS*****
I note it says on the pack
"ALSO CONTAINS LACTOSE"
So ....if you are lactose intolerant these may not agree with you, depending on your intolerance level and the amount of lactose used in them.
Would I recommend ? Yes,definitely. Give them a try . £1 a week for allergy relief is a steal.
Thank you for reading and I hope this was useful~~~myloh. Read the complete review |
