Boots Paracetamol and Codeine Tablets
by xxfoxyredxx
One of the things up until recently I had lurking in the back my medicine cabinet was these tablets. I'd had them a while and forgotten all about them to be honest so a couple of weeks ago I went through my stuff and threw out all of my out of date stuff and popped these in my handbag earmarked to actually use them when need ... be!
Recently I have been really busy and constantly on the go and it just wasn't an option to feel off colour! I bought these originally to deal with really bad pains that I suffer with as you can't take these longer than 3 consecutive days and like I say I bought these for really bad pain like migraine and back ache, issues that really plague me.
The Packaging:
The box is bright orange and white in colour and on the front of it we are clearly told that they are Boots Paracetamol & Codeine Tablets 'Can cause addiction, For 3 days use only' and that they are for 'The relief of pain' and then there is a picture shown of the tablet and I'm told that in my box I have 32 tablets then on the back of the box we are told what they can be used for once again, dosage information is clearly stated, the composition of the tablets is given, lots of warnings are given and contact details for Boots are clearly stated. Inside the box you get trays of 8 tablets in white blister packs and are all foil backed and on that we are told what they are and there is a pamphlet in the box with yet more information on it.
The Tablets:
The tablets are round and not all that big and uncoated (so they are a bit powdery) and these are suitable for children and adults over 12 years of age. They only contain Paracetamol and Codeine and in each tablet there is 500mg of the Paracetamol and 8mg of the Codeine and they are can be taken for Headaches, Migraines, Toothaches, Period Pains, Rheumatic Pains including Muscle Pains and Backache.
These are easy to take and the dosage advice is to take one or two of the tablets with a big drink every 4-6 hours (as needed) with taking no more than 8 of the tablets in any 24 hour period and because they are addictive you really shouldn't take these for longer than 3 days, if you feel the need to take more than that you really probably do need medical advice!
I find these pretty good, better than the caplets which give the same amount of Codeine and Paracetamol as these do from Boots, so its a bit odd but I find them to work really quickly!
I take these for my worst pains such as Migraines and Back Ache and for Period Pain and they really are highly effective for me and my needs. I find that usually one dose of two tablets is enough at the first sign of pain so I don't have to keep taking something, they're easy to swallow and work so I'm more than happy to pay £1.75 for a whopping 32 tablets! They're invaluable to me and I'm really glad I found these which are now living in my handbag because they just work so fast and allow me to get on with my day!
Only available from Boots stores and they get a huge thumbs up from me! Read the complete review |

Max Remedies Paracetamol Caplets
by xxfoxyredxx
In my oversized handbag I like to always carry paracetamol around with me. Constantly on the go at the moment I bought a couple of cheapo boxes of paracetamols when I was in Asda just to keep in there and so when I'm out and feeling under the weather these are the ones that I take and I paid just 47p a for box of 16 of the caplets which ... seemed a good buy to me, especially if they worked of course!
The Packaging:
These caplets come in a dark blue and white box and on the front of if it we are clearly told that they Max Remedies 500mg Caplets and that they are suitable for 'For the relief of headache, rheumatic pains, neuralgia and the symptoms of colds and flu' and then there is a picture shown of one of the caplets and we are told that there are 16 in box though these are available in other size boxes too. On the back of the box we are told a bit more about what they can be used for, the dosage advice is clearly given as well as warnings and the ingredients been given and contact details for the manufacturer are clearly stated then inside the box you get two (in this size case) white plastic blister trays backed with silver foil and a leaflet giving us yet more information on the caplets.
The Caplets:
White, long and thickish and rounded to the edges all you do with these is take no more than 8 of these in any 24 hours period and they can be used for the relief of headaches, rheumatic pains, neuralgia and the symptoms of colds and flu and to help with mild to moderate pain and reduce a fever and I take two per dose.
I take these on the go with a huge drink of something when in the main I have a headache or the onset of one, I don't find that they work for my terrible migraines but have helped when I've had a cold taken regularly to help with the symptoms of that. These do not help with my really bad aches and pains and I find that I usually need more than one dose for most of the problems I suffer with however for mild pain I find them to be more than good enough to be fair to them!
I bought mine in Asda though do keep your eyes peeled for these when out and about if you want to try them. Read the complete review |

Nytol One-A-Night
by sarahrichmond5
I first purchased nytol when I had got a promotion at work and was quite stressed.
I was finding it difficult to 'switch off' at night and therefore was exhausted the next day. I needed something that would help me doze off but leave me feeling normal the next morning so I could go to work and do a good job as normal. ...
I had never used any sleeping tablets and had always been quite against them but the pharmacist that I spoke to really sold the benefits to me so I thought id give them a try.
I bought them from a Lloyds pharmacy they were around £5. I didn't think this was bad as the pack had 16 tablets in so would last a long time.
The instructions stated that I had to take one tablet a night. It says that you should take it about 20mins before you want to go to sleep so that it has had the chance to work before you go to bed.
The first night I took it I was quite nervous for some reason; I took the tablet as the instructions said and went off to bed about 15mins later.
I did find it much easier to get to sleep having taken the tablet, I actually felt sleepy when I laid down which I don't normally and I felt a bit more relaxed than normal.
I seemed able to switch my mind off easier and as a result fell asleep quite quickly. I did wake up once in the night but I normally wake up a lot more times than that. The next day I felt great (this was probably due to having slept better). I didn't feel tired or drowsy at all which was great.
I try not to use the tablets too regularly as I don't really like the idea of having to rely on a sleeping tablet to get me to sleep but if I am ever really stressed or worried about anything then I find they are great.
I would recommend these to anyone who is having trouble sleeping or is going through a difficult time in their life and they need to make sure they get good rest. Read the complete review |
