Novartis Pantoloc Control
by alyson29 I frequently suffer with heartburn after eating certain food as well as the uncomfortable symptoms flaring up when I'm feeling rather stressed. I've been using a Tesco own brand remedy for several years, as in my experience, it is identical to Tums and offers me fast acting relief. However, a couple of months ago when I was running low ... I asked my husband to pick something up for me, but instead of purchasing my usual and very affordable brand he returned with Pantoloc Control, which is manufactured by Novartis. The medication is provided in two sizes, namely a box of 7 tablets or 14 tablets with my husband purchasing the smaller box, which contains Braille along the upper section. Each of the 20 mg tablets are protected in blister style packaging and are considerably tiny, so they are easy to take whilst on the move. I am prescribed a fair amount of medication for various health problems, so prior to his purchase, my husband make enquiries with the Pharamacist as to whether the medication was suitable for me, so it's always wise to check. I frequently suffer problems with swallowing certain types of medication, but experienced no difficulties with popping one of the tiny sugar coated pills, which went down with great ease without sticking in my throat. The directions for use are that on the first sign of symptoms, a maximum of one pill should be taken each day and swallowed whole. I learned that the pills contain the active substance pantoprazole, which blocks the production of stomach acid and they should only be used for short periods as prolonged symptoms should be investigated by your GP. Within less than five minutes the Tesco brand always starts to work when I am able to obtain instance relief from the discomfort. However, it was a good few hours before my symptoms slowly began to slowly subside when using Pantoloc, which disappointed me, particularly for such an expensive medication. I carefully scrutinised the accompanying rather large double sided leaflet only to discover that the medication is not intended to provide instant relief and it is claimed that symptoms will disappear after "just one day". I was quite taken back by this statement and rather puzzled as I really cannot see the point of taking a heartburn remedy which alleviates symptoms after one day whilst there are many other products on the market costing a fraction of the price, which offer instant relief! I feel the information provided on the box is very misleading, as whilst we are informed that the medication is intended for short term treatment, the important fact that it takes more than 24 hours to work has been omitted. Consequently, consumers would have no idea until they have parted with their hard earned cash and scrutinised the enclosed leaflet. There are a number of do's and don'ts provided on the leaflet together with a long list of possible side effects and for obvious reasons I do not intend copying them into this review. However, despite using the medication on three separate occasions in the hope it would be effective, I cannot speak of suffering from any issues other than the fact that my symptoms remained with me. On a positive note, the heart burn disappeared after the 24 hour period, but no doubt it would have without the need of medication. For the reasons discussed above, I cannot recommend Pantoloc and here comes the best bit - the price! My usual brand of heart burn remedy is Tesco Peppermint Flavoured Indigestion Tablets, which cost £1.50 for a pack of 48, which provide instant relief. Consequently, that's approximately 3p per tablet. However, Pantoloc will cost you £6.99 for a pack of 7 and £11.99 for a pack of 14. A quick calculation based on the larger pack size informs me that they will set you back 86p per tablet, which makes them 28 times more expensive! Unfortunately, this useless product receives only one star from me. I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading. Read the complete review |

Lamisil Once
by headsore Over the years myself and my other half have suffered from the unpleasant condition of athelte's foot. This condition I didn't realise can be contagious until a friend told me. Once one of us managed to get rid of it then the other one of us got it back, and this went on and on for ages. Someone mentioned to us about Lamisil ... Once which is meant to be designed for lots of foot problems, and one of them is Athelete's Foot. This condition causes us both intense itching to the point that it is really very painful. The doctor has precstibed lots of creams and lotions in the past but it always keeps coming back despite taking extra good care over our foot hygiene. We both suffer from hot and smelly feet and I think this is the problem. We stuck to our own towels and we both applied Lamisil cream quite thickly to all of our toes and rubbed in as directed. The lotion is thick and white in consistency and had a slight medicated smell, which was fine as I personally quite like this. It stung a bit on first application but we soon got used to it and let it get to work. We left it on overnight and by the next day both of our feet appeared to be much improved, not completely gone altogether but a definite improvement nonetheless. We applied it again the following day and did not need to use it by day three and the conditon had completely gone and our feet looked fine and healthy. This is a miracle cream in my opinion. I would highly recommend it to people who suffer from the same condition as it works very quickly indeed and is so simple and easy to use - anyone can apply cream to their feet and rub in and leave. It really is that simple. Remember to keep taking good care of your feet afterwards though in case it pops back. It expensive at £6 a tube in Teso but a little goes a long way and it really is worth it. Review also posted on Ciao as sorehead Read the complete review |

Lamisil Once
by jacb1983 I very seldom get athletes foot, and haven't had a bout of it since I stopped going to the gym (too expensive and I found more fun ways to exercise) and stopped putting my feet through the trauma of regular sweating inside non-breathable trainers. The last time I had althete's foot, however, it was very unpleasant so I used Lamisil Once ... to treat it. I didn't notice the symptoms for a while as I was busy and distracted, and it wasn't until my feet started stinging in the bath that I noticed they looked sore and the skin felt itchy and very uncomfortable. I paid £8 for a small tube of this cream, which was recommended by a friend who raved about how good it was. I thought at the time it was expensive, but my friend said that it was the most effective athlete's foot treatment she'd ever tried, and was much better than the others, so I gave it a go. To use this product you have to first wash and dry your feet really well (both of them, even if it only looks like 1 foot is infected), and then apply the whole tube of cream to the feet evenly. You don't massage the product in, you just have to make sure it's sitting on top of the skin in a thin layer, even inbetween the toes. After a few minutes of drying time, you can wear shoes and socks again as normal, but you shouldn't wash your feet for 24 hours, to give the product the maximum amount of time needed on the skin. I found that Lamisil Once was much better than other products and cheap powders I'd tried in the past, as it seemed to kill the fungal bacteria and keep them from reoccuring as opposed to some treatments which only seem to stop the fungus for a while before allowing it to come back. I found that within a few days my feet were feeling much better, and not long after they were virtually back to normal, with all discomfort gone. The fact that you only need to apply this once is a big bonus for me, as I'm busy and don't always have time to remember to regularly dose my feet with treatment - with Lamisil you just treat the athlete's foot once and then it's gone, so it's very simply. The only minor negative I have about this product (and it's very minor) is that it can sting a timy bit if you have any open sores or cuts on your feet, but other than that it's perfect and I can highly recommend it. It's well worth the money I paid considering the time, effort and discomfort it saved me. Read the complete review |
