Nytol One-A-Night
by bringingsexyback WHAT ARE THEY? Nytol tablets are for when you can not get to sleep, they are not for people who have got insomnia and are more for people who have trouble getting to sleep sometimes but can stay asleep once they have drifted off. WHY I BOUGHT THEM My 3 children went to visit my mother in Italy this week ... and because they are not here my home feels too quiet at night and I cannot sleep when I go to bed because I am listening to the silence. One of my clients recommended these to me and I bought a packet last Sunday and have been using them for all the week. DO THEY WORK? I do not think these tablets work and I have not gone to sleep any easier even though I have taken them how it said to on the box. I think they are a waste of money because I do not feel any different at all and in the morning I sometimes feel worse because I think the Nytol are making it harder for me to wake up properly. WHAT I THINK Nytol did not work for me and that was a surprise because I do not have a very hard time in getting to sleep and should only have needed a bit of help. The lady who recommended it to me was very happy with Nytol and I think that means it works different for everyone because I trust her opinion on medical things. I thought the tablet was easy to take and it did not make my mouth taste bad after, I can swallow it easy with water but think it would be hard to take without a drink. I have tried to use Nytol 5 times and never have I found it hard to swallow the tablet. I do not feel anything different and I think I am better off to try more natural things to relax me so that I can go to sleep at night. I do not mind very much because my children are coming home next week and then I think my sleeping will improve because we will all be together again, I think I cannot sleep because I miss them and I am less active in the day also with only my husband to take care of. I do not need to take proper sleeping tablets but I thought that Nytol would help me more because I am not depending on this sort of medication, I have never used anything like it before so I thought it would be more effective for me and not my client who has used Nytol with success for many years. I do not think that is good for the health and she is probably imagining now that they help in her mind only. ANYTHING ELSE I think my packet of Nytol cost £4 from Sainsburys but I cannot remember properly and I have lost my receipt now, it was about that price though. Like with any medicine there is a leaflet inside the box that gives advice and you should check that you are not one of the people who can't take Nytol. 1 Dooyoo Star. Read the complete review |

Nytol One-A-Night

When I work night duty I have terrible difficulties sleeping during the day and most days I only get about 2 hours sleep which is not very helpful when you need your wits about you during the night. Having to work 7 x 12 hour shifts over a week after about three days it really makes you quite miserable due ... to lack of sleep and although it is possible to turn on a smiley face at work it tends to leave you with a thumper of a headache due to tiredness. Not only that during down time or when you are having to write reports and things it is so easy to drift off as you are writing your reports whilst waiting for the oh so slow NHS computers to work. I can be in the middle of a sentence and then just drift off and continue to type..........there are words but completely out of context IE 'This patient needs a holiday' which is not what I am supposed to be writing. Perhaps it's my subconscious telling me I need one. I popped into Boots one morning to see about buying something over the counter that would help me sleep. It was the Pharmacist who recommended Nytol one a night tablet. What is Nytol one a night? After asking a bit of information about it he told me that it contained diphenhydramine hydrochloride which is an anti-histamine that is well known to cause symptoms of sleepiness and drowsiness. They were priced at £5.29 for a box of 16 caplets. Inside the box they are supplied in a plastic strip containing 16 easy to swallow caplets. They are white in colour with the following inscribed on them 'N50'. There is also an information leaflet inside the box. The directions for taking Nytol are to take one tablet about 20 minutes before you go to bed it is supposed to make you drowsy and tired. After reading the leaflet it told me that it contained 50mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride which is a really a double dose of the drug you would normally take for symptoms of allergy. Did it work? Did it heck!!! Two hours later I was still wide awake and in the land of over activity there was no way that this was going to help me. I tried it for several days running and it did not make any noticeable difference to me or help me sleep in anyway. Although I will say it helped me perhaps rest a bit more it did not actually help aid my sleep at all. I did not and do not wish to go down the route of taking sleeping tablets to aid sleep for obvious reasons. I know some of my colleagues swear by it but frankly it really did nothing for me. I have however found an alternative over the counter medicine which is useful for me but I really am not at liberty to mention that here. Would I recommend it? Well you would think that bearing in mind I did not find it very effective I would actually advise people to try natural remedies as opposed to going down the chemical route. Little stimulation, ensure you are not too hot or too cold, make sure that there is complete silence and the room is completely dark by using black out curtains, turn off or unplug your phone, making sure you are not hungry or thirsty prior to going to bed and if all these remedies have failed then it won't do you any harm to try them. For peace of mind and in order to get some sleep after becoming quite grouchy and miserable I would advise you give them a try. For the princely sum of just over a fiver I do not think it is too bad a price to pay for a decent sleep. Remember the old adage 'One man's meat is another man's poison' So although it did nothing for me and I won't be buying these again I wouldn't put others off from buying it to see if it worked for them. Nytol 16 Caplets
by brady58 Talking to my friends and family I know it is a common occurrence to have periods where we don't sleep well. Luckily mine are few and far between but with two children and a job I cannot afford to be tired so if I am having a week where sleep is hard to come by I try and do whatever it takes to help myself sleep and relax. I ... have tried loads of over the counter sleeping aides and some are much better than others. Most won't do anything to actually knock you out but some of them actually help to relax you and help you drift off. These original Nytol tablets are so much better than the herbal version that I tried but they still aren't the best thing I don't think and I have tried better tablets for helping you sleep. They cost around about £3.50 a packet which I think is a fairly reasonable price as some other tablets for helping with sleep cost much more. You need to take two tablets 20 minutes before bed. I always find that when taking the tablets it is good to do something extremely relaxing such as breathing exercises to help my brain settle down so that I am fully relaxed to actually be able to get to sleep. The tablets don't all of a sudden make you feel as though you are going to sleep after 20 minutes and to be honest I have taken these before and then remembered that I have things to do and got up and done them and didn't feel any more tired than I would have had I not taken the tablet. What they do do is make my sleep less disturbed. I find that when I have had to take these tablets that they have helped me relax (though I'm not sure how much of that is a placebo effect) but I have definitely slept better and woken up less when taking them. I don't think they would be much good if you are fighting against them for instance if your brain is too active and this is why you can't sleep but if you are just needing a little help to make your sleep more restful then these are quite a good product to try.
