She advised me that it was more of a 'paste' than a liquid. I have continued to use the Adcortyl paste any time that I am troubled with ulcers ever since that first recommendation by my dentist, not because I think it is a miracle cure, but because I find it ...more

Crowned Review Adcortyl in Orabase: Take The "Ow!" Out Yer Mouth! (1362 words)

Quite what God had in mind when he invented mouth ulcers, I’m not entirely sure. From time to time, I find myself plagued by the little critters and anyone else who has ever suffered from them will sympathise with me when I whine about how painful they are. The problem with a mouth ulcer is that, unlike a cut of graze to the exterior part of your skin, it’s very difficult to go about your everyday business without interfering with the ulcer. Just the saliva in your mouth is enough to cause stinging and discomfort, and if you get a really nasty one, you might just as well give up eating for the rest of the month. Mouth ulcers can be symptomatic of many things, and with no ...  Read the complete review

Any regular readers of my reviews will no doubt be aware by now that I have several health problems, one of which is a chronic condition that I was diagnosed with around three years ago. One of the rather unfortunate side effects of this illness is that it causes quite severe ulcerations in my mouth and on my tongue. This has led me to try all sorts of various products for the treatment of mouth ulcers - everything from mouth washes and oral rinses, to gels and all manner of potions. The Adcortyl was first prescribed to me by my dentist, around a year and a half ago, whilst I was there for my six-monthly check up. She happened to comment on ...  Read the complete review

When I'm stressed or feeling run down, I am known to get mouth ulcers. A mouth ulcer for anyone who doesn't get them is an open sore in your mouth that will last for anything up to a week before disappearing on its own. Depending on where the troublesome little things pop up, they really can interfere with your day to day life. Popping your tongue over one can cause pain to shoot through you, and also eating certain foods can make it more painful too. I have used a variety of products in the past from Bonjella, through to my baby daughter's teething gel to see if it would help. A few months ago I was plagued with two, one right on my gum where a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review This stuff really works (248 words)

No long after reading a review on this cream me and my daughter both developed mouth ulcers. I remembered from the review I had read that this stuff was good. Expensive but it works so I thought I would give it ago worth the money not to suffer the pain. I bought the cream from boots it was expensive at £4.89 a tube and the tubes are very small 5g. My daughter was in a fair bit of pain with her ulcer so she tried it first. Popped a pea-sized amount on her finger and shoved in right on top the sore. Her face said it all she was not enjoying the cream but because of the consistency of the cream she could not wipe it off which was actually a good thing. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Adcortyl in Orabase: Adcortyl Defeats Mouth Ulcers (204 words)

I've had mouth ulcers since I was a child and have used a variety of products over the years to try to control them. Mouth Ulcers last for about 10 days and follow a clearly defined pattern. Products such as Bonjela numb the pain but do little else. Then along came Adcortyl. A small dab (just enough to cover the ulcer) and it will go. If you catch it very early it will disappear in a day or two. If you leave the ulcer a few days until it is becoming sore and it might take up to 4 doses (dabbing it on at bedtime is best), but will never last anywhere near the standard 10 days. The only problems happen when the ulcer is under the tongue around ...  Read the complete review
