A great way to soothe sore gums (Bonjela Teething Gel)

My son is now 15 weeks old and for the past couple of weeks has been very grouchy and seems to be showing some signs of teething, so I decided to purchase some Bonjela to see if this would ease the pain in his sore gums.

Bonjela is a teething gel and on the box it claims to provide fast acting soothing relief from teething pain. I purchased a 15ml tube from Boots for £2.09, it comes in a blue box with Bonjela written on the front in big white letters and the picture of a baby. The tube itself is blue with a white screw lid. I bought the sugar free Bonjela, this can be used for babies from 2 months upwards.

The gel itself is cream in colour and after having a little taste myself (I always like to taste whatever im giving to my son, as then I can see why he pulls such funny faces when I give him things!!), was pleasantly surprised as it has a banana flavour and once you apply it to your gums, after a few seconds it does actually start to numb the gums, so I imagine it will be very good to ease toothache and sore gums.

You only need to put a small, pea sized amount onto your clean finger tip, you then just rub it onto your baby's gums, it then works by numbing the gum and relieving the pain. The gel can be used every 3 hours, but you are advised not to use more frequently than this as it contains a painkiller. Whenever our son is particularly grouchy and chewing his hands quite a lot I use a little bit of this gel, I find that within minutes he seems to have calmed right down, so as far as I can tell, it does seem to do the job it is intended for.
