Advantages: Trusted brand

Disadvantages: Can make the affected area sting

When our baby began teething we promptly bought both Bonjela and Calgel teething gels to ease his gums. Although very receptive to the taste of the Calgel teething gel, he soon began clamping his mouth shut when presented with the Bonjela.

I recently had a wisdom tooth breaking through my gum and took the opportunity to try out both teething gels. I found that the Bonjela made the area sting for a while before numbing it. The Calgel did not. I can only presume that this is the reason our son does not let it near his teething gums.

Bonjela teething gel is packaged inside a blue box depicting the brand name in white lettering and a picture of a small baby on the front. The tube itself contains 15g.

This product is suitable for babies from two months of age and is sugar free. Tesco stock this item at £2.27 per tube.

Although my personal favourite is Calgel as a mother I realise that all babies are completely different. By all means give this product a try but if your child is not receptive to it then Calgel is a recommended alternative.
