Bonjela Teething Gel
Advantages: Effective, sweet tasting
Disadvantages: Doesn't work quite as fast as they state
I think every baby, to different extents, suffer with teething pain. It's horrible to see your baby in pain and you do all you can to help ease it for them. My daughter suffered quite bad early on, then had a break from teething for quite a while, until her back molars started to make an appearance atleast. They were the worst by far, cue, teething gel!
--- Packaging and information ---
Bonjela teething gel comes in almost the same packaging as the normal adult Bonjela, with a blue cardboard box and the contrasting white product name, the only difference is the cute baby picture on the box. Inside the box is a tube with the same design as the box and a twist off lid, almost like a toothpaste tube.
This teething gel comes in a 15g tube, it is widely available in chemists and supermarkets. The current cost is anywhere between £2 and £4 depending on where you buy it.
--- Bonjela ---
Bonjela teething gel and antiseptic pain relieving gel. It is pretty much just a local anaesthetic gel which makes it a quick way to eliminate pain for children. After it is applied it doesn't take long for it to get to work.
Application of the gel is easy. After opening the tube and squeezing a little amount onto a clean little finger, you find the gel is quite thick in consistency, but as soon as you put it onto baby's gum it feels like it slides right off. Apparently, the gums absorb it straight away and it gets to work there and then.
This Bonjela teething gel is sugar free, and has a banana flavour. I tried a little bit myself, I don't really find the gel tasting like banana, but it does have a really sweet twang to it, which is nice, considering it's sugar free too! My daughter has never turned her nose up at the taste of the gel so it gets the thumbs up from her.
Although my daughter can never say whether pain relieving medicines, such as this one, work, I can usually tell by her restless and crying when it starts to take effect. Bonjela say it gets to work straight away, but I would say it's usually around 20 minutes after I've applied the gel before she actually calms down and is back to her normal self. After one dose of Bonjela she seems quite content for most of the day afterwards. It can be applied every 3 hours, but we have needed to reapply that soon after.
--- Overall ---
I'd definitely recommend Bonjela Teething Gel for babies. It definitely helps soothe the poor little mites from teething pains. It is relatively fast (although not as fast as they state!) at getting to work, and tastes quite nice. For the price, it's definitely worth it!
