Advantages: Lovely smell

Disadvantages: Some people may find the smell/taste too strong

If you've ever had an ulcer in your mouth and not tried Bonjela then you're missing out on the best treatment available for it. Bonjela is a gel like substance that can be applied to the area where you have the ulcer and will start working straight away on soothing the area as well as healing it.

Bonjela comes in a tube which is packaged in a cardboard box. The box is easy to open and I normally discard it straight away (in the recycling bin of course!). The actual tube of the product is made from a strong plastic material. It is about 4" long and about an inch wide. There is a small white little screw on lid that goes on top of it which is easy to take off and put back on again. As soon as the lid comes off you can smell the Bonjela immediately. It has a really strong aniseed smell which in my opinion is a lovely smell.

You need to squeeze the tube in order to get the gel out of it and it comes out very easily, especially when the tube is new and full! The gel is completely clear in colour and feels very wet and cold when you squeeze it on to your finger. You then need to dab the gel onto the affected area in your mouth and smooth it all around the ulcer. You can feel the cooling effect straight away and a little tingle too which I like as I feel like it's targeting and attacking the ulcer as it should be doing. It makes the area feel a little numb which is good as it hurts less when you rub your tongue over it.

I personally love the taste of the Bonjela in my mouth but some people don't. I love aniseed type flavours and like the smell and taste of this. It is such a strong flavour that I think people would either love it or hate it so I guess some people might detest it straight away.

You can buy Bonjela from all chemists and most supermarkets. It costs £2.75 for 15g from Tescos and is a similar price elsewhere. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Summary: Fantastic healing gel for pesky ulcers in your mouth
