Advantages: Good allergy relief for mild to moderate hayfever

Disadvantages: Not so good for bad hayfever

I have only suffered from hayfever for the last few years, and it seems to get worse each summer (lucky me!). After the first summer of sneezing and people asking me what was wrong because my eyes were so red I decided to try a hayfever medication. I chose the Boots one as it active ingredient, loratidine, is non drowsy, which is fairly essential, and also becuse it's significantly cheaper than the branded products. It costs around £7 for a box of 30, but Boots quite often sell it on a two for one basis which is much better!

The tablets are taken once a day and prevent the sneezing, itchiness and eye problems associated with hayfever, but I have found that as my hayfever has got worse the tablets have got less effective - they stop the worst of it but I still sneeze and itch a bit. They also help my dust and pet hair allergies (these make my skin itchy) as antihistamines will pretty much treat any allergy.

So, I would say that if your hayfever is mild to moderate these will do the job perfectly, but you may need a little extra help if it's more severe.

Summary: Will help moderate hayfever symptoms and won't make you sleepy!

I'm the same - the Boots over the counter medication is just not working any more. Get yourself to your GP and get them to prescribe you the tablets they keep on prescription. That stuff works wonders!
