~~~~~ Calpol ~~~~~
Since 1966 Calpol's range of pain relief treatments have been helping children of all ages feel better. Over the years they have listened to the needs of parents and children to develop different varieties of pain relief to make it easier to treat your child's pain and fever.
~~~~~ Packaging ~~~~~

Calpol comes in a glass bottle with a purple and white label on it with all the information for the medcine on it. The bottle is sold inside a purple box which has the calpol logo at the top, just above the logo it says 2+ months and just below the logo it says 'sugar free infant suspension, paracetamol and pain & fever relief. There is a picture of a baby and underneath it also tells you the medicine is sugar free, strawberry flavour. All the information for the medcine is on the sides of the box.

~~~~~ The medcine ~~~~~
Calpol is a pink strawberry flavoured paracetamol oral suspension that can be given to babies from 2 months. It will relieve fever and pain including teething pain. The medcine is suitable for babies and children from 2 months to 6 years.
~~~~~ Ingredients ~~~~~

Each 5ml contains 120mg paracetamol. Also contains Maltitol, E420, E218, E216, E214, E122.

~~~~~ Dosage ~~~~~
Under 2 months = consult your doctor
2-3months (weighing 4kg and not premature baby) = single 2.5ml spoonful, a second 2.5ml spoonful may be given after 4-6hrs if needed. Do not give more than 2 doses - consult your doctor if more is needed.
3-12months = 2.5ml to 5ml up to 4 times a day
1-6years = one to two 5ml spoonfuls up to 4 times a day.
Do not give more than 4 doses (2 doses is aged 2to3months) in 24 hours and do not give for more than 3 days without consulting your doctor.
~~~~~ Advice ~~~~~

~ Dont give for more than three days without consulting your doctor.

~ Leave at least 4 hours between doses

~ Do not exceed the stated dose

~ Seek medical advice immediately in the event of an overdose

~ If symptoms persist consult your doctor

~ Do not give with any other paracetamol containing products

~ If your child is taking any other medication consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.

~ Check the cap on the bottle is fastened securely at all times

~ Keep out of reach of children

~ Do not store above 25 degrees C

~ Store in the original container

~~~~~ Side effects ~~~~~
If any of the following side effects occur you should consult your doctor straight away:
~ rash or other signs of allergy
~ becoming unusually tired, unexpected bruising or bleeding or getting more infections than usual
~~~~~ Prices ~~~~~

100ml bottle = £2.48 (£1.98 for sugar free)

140ml bottle = £3.39

12 - 5ml sachets = £2.23 (£1.90 for sugar free)

20 - 5ml sachets = £3.59

Prices seem to vary depending where you get this medcine from so have a look around and also as you can see the sugar free version seems to be cheaper than the original but I think the sugar free version still tastes nice and very sweet.

~~~~~ Available product sizes ~~~~~
Calpol comes in a range of sizes in original or sugar free:
Bottles: 100ml, 140ml or 200ml
Sachets: pack of 12 or 20 5ml doses.
~~~~~ Other products by calpol ~~~~~

Other products by calpol are Calpol six plus (6yrs and over), Calpol six plus fastmelts, Calprofen (6months and over), Calcough chesty and Calgel (teething gel for 3 months and over).

~~~~~ What I think ~~~~~
I dont have any problems giving Calpol to my babies as it is nice tasting and easy to swallow, they will take it from a spoon easily and now they ask for more (which they dont get) so it must taste nice! I think the strawberry taste is nice too!! Even though the medcine is sugar free it is still very sugary sweet tasting which is probably why most children take it easily. Iwould definately recommend Calpol as it iis easy to give to your child and most times I give it to my children it calms them down and reduces their temperature.
It would be great to hear how effective you think it is and how quickly it works. I agree that it is really sticky and can stain but the night time version is great as it's clear!
Fair review but less bullet points about warnings.
