Advantages: It works quickly and effectively

Disadvantages: moreish.

I vividly remember being a child and getting a little bit excited when I got a tinsy bit ill because the Calpol would come out of the cupboard. Not only did it make me feel better but it had the best taste ever! It was like having a mouthful of sweets!

Now I have two boys of my own I keep a bottle of calpol in the fridge just incase they are feeling under the weather. The other day my youngest had his first set of injections so I pumped a spoonful of Calpol into his mouth before we left and he had no ill affects from the jabs.

Calpol is red in colour and tastes like strawberrys and I don't know any child that will turn it down. Not only does it have an appealing taste but it actually works. If your child is anything like mine they will scream the place down because they want more. My son was never really bad with the teething process but he had one particular tooth that gave him a bit of trouble. He was pretty whingy and red cheeked so I decided a spoonful of Calpol was in order. He had 5mls and within a few minutes he was alot perkier and generally a happier boy.

The great thing about Calpol is it can be used for a child as young as 2 months. The Calprofen can't be used until the child is 3 months. Most babys have there jabs at around 8 weeks so it comes in handy for that time because the jabs can affect your little one.

I would suggest to any parent to keep a bottle of this in the fridge because you never know when you're going to need it.

Summary: A great thing to keep in your cupboard.

I personally wouldn't recommend giving Calpol (or any other painkiller) in anticipation of pain 'just in case'. Also, 3 months is 12 weeks, not 8.
