Advantages: works well...
Disadvantages: none
Well, not quite, but it should be in every Mother's medicine cabinet. I'm not necessarily just talking about the branded calpol, Boots do an own brand that is about 30p cheaper and comes in strawberry and orange, but it does seem to walk very well. My son was prescribed some after his 8 week jabs but didn't need any until he was 3 months when out GP recommended it for an ongoing digestive problem he was having. It seemed to work a little on that but now I am finding it invaluable for teething. Easiest way to administer it is just adding it into a milk feed. If I need to, I just put 5ml into his bedtime feed when he is teething and he sleeps just fine. I also have to mention the Eezimed medicine dummy. I bought one of these from the Perfectly Happy People catalogue ( and subsequently bought 2 more from the Tesco Direct catalogue) It is designed like a dummy but it has a chamber on it that holds 5ml of medicine that is sucked through the dummy teat. If this fails, there is a little plunger in the back to make letting out the medicine a bit easier. It's one of the best medicine aids I have used.( and only £6)
