Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) has been a problem that has plagued me since my teenage years. I would go out of my way not to lift my arms up, and the thought of summer filled me with dread when I had to wear a thin cotton shirt; I knew that I would be visibly drenched in minutes. I think that this problem is in my genes, as my father and sister also suffer with the same symptoms; but a few years ago my sister introduced me to Anhydrol Forte after she was given it on prescription by her doctor, and I've never looked back - I just wish that I had discovered it years ago.
~*~ What is it? ~*~
Anhydrol Forte is an extremely strong antiperspirant. It is widely available in pharmacies without a prescription, but you do have to ask for it because it is kept behind the counter. It is usually priced at around £4 for 60ml. When you buy it for the first time you will be asked if you have used it before, if not you will be given advice on how to use it as this really is a strong product.
This product comes in roll on form, in a very simple white plastic bottle. The bottle has a lot of warnings, precautions and advice on it, and I would highly recommend that you read them all carefully and heed all of the advice. When you unscrew the lid, you are met with a very strong smell of alcohol, and at first I was extremely hesitant about putting this on my skin, but to be honest, sweating is such a problem for me that I would be willing to try anything.
You are advised to apply Anhydrol Forte the first time before you go to bed. It is best to apply it to skin that has not just been washed, and never put this product onto broken of freshly shaved skin. You are told to use it nightly for two days, have two days off, then use it once a week for maximum effectiveness.
~*~ Side effects~*~
Within ten minutes of using this product for the first time I felt as though my armpits were on fire. Was really tempted to wash it off, but I knew that if I persevered with it, I would be sweat free! I had a really uncomfortable night, but I managed to make it through. The following day, my armpits felt really itchy, and I mean really itchy. It was almost unbearable, and I scratched my skin until it was practically raw - I'm not sure if me scratching like an ape is better or worse that unsightly sweat patches!
Because I had scratched so much, I didn't want to reapply the product the following night onto broken skin, so I gave it a miss. But something miraculous had happened in that one night - No more sweating, my underarms were completely dry and I was ecstatic. The uncomfortable feeling in my armpits subsided after a few days, and I was still dry. About ten days later I started to feel sweaty again so I used the product, and this time there was no pain at all. In the three years that I have been using this product, I generally find now that I need to use it once every ten days or so, and I stay completely dry. Very occasionally it can be uncomfortable and leave a slight rash, but nothing like the first time that I used it.
This product is so effective because it contains a large amount of aluminium. The long term side effects of Aluminium on the human body (especially in the breast area) are still widely disputed, and I know some people that would not touch this product with a barge pole because of its possible cancer causing properties, even though no convincing and definitive evidence has so far been presented. You must make your own mind up on this, and do further research before using this deodorant.
~*~ In conclusion ~*~
This product has completely transformed my life, and I do not say that lightly. I have a lot more confidence, and I can choose whatever clothes that I want without having to worry whether sweat will show up, or if something is tight under my armpits. I know that sweating is completely natural, and it is the body's way of cooling naturally, but unles you sweat excessively this is probably a problem that you won't fully appreciate.
This product is only for excessive sweating which can't be controlled by a shop bought deodorant, and I wouldn't recommend it unless sweating is having a serious effect on your life. Anhydrol Forte can also be used on hands and feet, but if you are considering buying this, ask the pharmacist for some advice on whether this is for you.
Although this product comes with some initial side effects, its benefits for me far outweigh this, and I am glad that I stuck with it.
An effective medication used to combat excessive sweating.
