Dermol 500 Lotion
Advantages: Helps get rid of dry skin
Disadvantages: Can be greasy on the skin
Dermol is an antimicrobial emollient cream for the management of dry and itchy skin conditions, like eczema and dermatitis. It can also be used as a soap substitute. (Description taken from the bottle)
My 9 month old son is suffering from terrible eczema at the moment. He has had it all his life and it has cleared up nicely on his arms and legs with this Dermol cream. However he is suffering badly with it on his stomach and back and unfortunately this Dermol cream isn't working for him in these areas.
I still use this cream on his legs and arms as much as I can to keep him moisturised. This comes in a 50g tube, which is great to take round with you in your bag, it has a screw top lid and it is easy to squeeze out of the tube. It also comes in a 500g bottle, with a pump on the top, which is what I get now from the doctors, as I use so much of it on my sons skin. The pump bottle is really easy to use, but it is too heavy and bulky to take out and about with you, so I use this to fill up my tube of Dermol to keep in my bag.
This Dermol cream is white in colour, and isn't too thick, but it is not runny at all either. It comes out in a nice blob with the pump and it smooths over my babies skin really nicely. I find I have to use quite a lot of it to cover his skin, and it is quite hard to completely rub in. It does sit on his skin, and I tend to smother him in it thick when he sleeps for a nap, and after half an hour it has completely soaked in well. His skin feels so soft and moisturised after using this Dermol on his skin. If you leave it on his skin for a minute or two, then try rubbing it in, it goes quite greasy, but not as thick and seems easier to spread and rub in easier.
This has really cleared up his eczema on his arms, legs and also his face. You have to be careful kissing them after using this, as it lingers on the skin for hours, and his cheeks taste horrible when I kiss him!
This has not worked on his eczema on his back or stomach, but it is really bad eczema at the moment, even smothering this on all day long, it is not working at all. It is keeping it from going really dry and sore but it is not clearing it up, so we are using other products from the doctors for this now. This Dermol also comes in a lotion, which we use as a soap in the bath, as other products irritate his skin. This feels really smooth and nice on his skin, and cleans him well.
I would highly recommend this Dermol if you suffer from dry skin or eczema, it keeps you well moisturised, I always rub it into my hands after applying it to my son and it is really helping my eczema I have on my hands too. It is a lovely moisturiser but it does take a while to sink in if you put it on thick, and can leave your hands slightly greasy too. I will continue to use it and definitely recommend you try it if you have dry skin!
Summary: An excellent moisturiser for people with skin conditions
