Advantages: helped her bad throat and is easy to use
Disadvantages: not a nice taste
My daughter was in a lot of pain with a sore throat and when over the counter throat lozengers and cough sweets weren't making it any better, I decided I should take her to the doctor. After an examination, he concluded that she had got tonsilitus or glandula fever. A blood test revealed that she hadn't got glandula fever a few days later, so she had tonsilitus and the doctor prescribed this for my daughter.
I hadn't heard of this before and was eager to try and review it. The instructions the doctor gave my daughter was to use the spray up to 8 times a day, not too close together. The bottle itself was small, about 30ml, and it had a green lid with a long white nozzle that helped you to put it to the back of the throat.
When you pressed the nozzle, it doesn't shoot out like an aerosol can, but rather dribbles out which I didn't think was great because it didn't soak her throat which I thought would have been better. My daughter found it very easy to use with the long nozzle and she said it wasn't too uncomfortable.
The spray worked a little for myt daughter although she said it had a very tangy taste that she didn't like, it was a small price to pay for a bit of pain relief of her bad throat. She was using this alongside ibuprofen and she said this gave her throat a bit of a numb feeling which made swallowing and talking much easier. She used it a little more than the doctor said, about two sprays every few hours kept her sore throat at bay.
Because my daughter isn't 16 yet, she didn't have to pay for the spray, but it is available from chemists and online for about £5.00. It is worth the money because it eased her sore throat a lot and made it easier for her to eat and drink which is important.
Summary: A good spray to ease sore throats
