Advantages: Moisturises and protects against skin conditions.
Disadvantages: None - its really good.
Ever since my eldest son was a baby he has had really dry skin and at first the health visitor said that it was just because he was 10 days overdue when he was born. However when he was about two years old he was diagnosed with eczema. By this stage his skin was quite red and blotchy in some places. Apparently eczema can be quite common in young children.
When the doctor diagnosed him with eczema he prescribed him two products; Oilatum bath emollient and Diprobase cream. I get it free on prescription so I am unsure of the cost but I think you can expect to pay about £2.50 for a 50g tub. I get it in a 500g tub but this does last ages.
Diprobase is an emollient, moisturising and protective cream. It helps to smooth, soothe and hydrate the skin, it also prevents moisture loss.
It can be used to treat adults or children with skin conditions such as eczema. Red inflamed damaged, dry or chapped skin can all be treated by Diprobase.
The cream contains chlorocresol, cetomacrogol, cetostearyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, white soft paraffin, phosphoric acid, sodium dihydrogen phosphate and purified water.
You are instructed to apply the cream daily, applying a thin layer to cover the affected area and then massage in. I did this every day to my son's skin and almost straight away began to see results. After applying the Diprobase it leaves his skin feeling really silky and soft. Within a month or so I would say the eczema had cleared up.
I still use the cream a few times a week but this is more a preventative measure rather than a treatment. Occassionally his skin may flare up and I will use the Diprobase and it will clear it up. I really think this is a fantastic product and is perfect for anyone to use if they have problems with raw, dry, damaged or chapped skin.
Summary: 5 stars
