Advantages: Quick effective pain relief

Disadvantages: Price

I know, I know... not a terribly exciting product to write a review on but this is honestly a great product so I hope you girls find it useful :) This is the only product I turn to when I start feeling pain during that time of the month!

~~Product Description~~
(Boots) Feminax Express 342 mg Tablets are for period pain and cramps. Effective pain relief. Each film coated tablet contains 200mg ibuprofen (as ibuprofen lysine).

~~Current Price & Additional Information~~
They are priced at £3.59 right now due to a 50p off promotional offer online on Boots.com. Usually they sell them for around £4 for 16 tablets (342 mg). The information on the packaging says that it provides fast relief for symptoms associated with period pain that include cramps, muscular pain, backache and headache. "They are also suitable for relief of rheumatic pain, nerve pain, migraine, dental pain, fever and symptoms of cold and flu'' - I've not used these tablets to treat anything outside of period pain, so I can't comment.

~~Packaging~~
The tablets are individually sealed in foil. The box contains two packs, 8 tablets in each. This means that if you are travelling it's easy to just take one set with you. The tablets are also spaced very nicely if you want to cut them up for easier portability for example. The spacing isn't actually regular with each pack (out of two) having the tablets split to be cut out as individuals or in pairs.

~~My Thoughts~~
I never used to use pain relief, but during a particularly stressful time I began to experience a lot of pain and had to resort to these. Once pain occurs I take one of the tablets with water and the pain subsides minutes afterwards. The relief is quick and sustained. I've never experienced any side effects, although these of course vary from person to person. They have been especially great to have when I'm away from home since they're very easy to carry and take whenever. If I get pain, I'll only take the lowest dose possible to control it which is normally one tablet. I feel that £4 for 16 tablets is quite expensive especially for women that need to take more for pain relief. I typically only use this product on the first day of the period, so one packet of tablets actually does last me quite a long time. You take 1 or 2 tablets initially and then 1 or 2 again every 4 hours if necessary without exceeding 6 tablets in a 24 hour period. I would definitely look for cheaper alternatives if I used more tablets than I did at present, and would think twice if I had to use as many as 6 for a single day!

~~Overall~~
Even though I don't always suffer from pain, I do feel a lot better having them around for easy access just in case. It does exactly what it says on the box and despite feeling sceptical since it's aimed for period pain specifically, I found it to be very effective. Despite saying this I would be terribly tempted to look for cheaper alternatives.

Summary: A handy product to have around
