As a young girl I learnt to rely on Feminax during the early years of my periods as my body painfully adjusted to my menstrual cycle. Nowadays as a young woman I only take them as and when the pain is really bad, which isn't often, as it is controlled by my contraceptive pill. However, one month last year was extremely painful and I decided that as I was out of Feminax and had seen Feminax Ultra advertised on the television that this would be a fantastic and stronger substitute for my period pain. Feminax Ultra is designed to give "Maximum strength pain relief from period pain and menstrual cramps". They were a new form of painkillers designed ... Read the complete review

Years ago, there used to be a very effective product for period pain relief called Feminax. It was effective because, as well as the pain-killing ingredients of Paracetomol and Codeine, it contained the antispasmodic Hyoscine. Okay, so the pain was dampened rather than cured, and the pills made you sleepy as hell despite the added caffeine ingredient; but since all you want to do for those 5 days of the month is sleep anyway this wasn't a problem. Then along came the government health czars, who decided that having two narcotic ingredients (hyoscine and codeine) in the same medicine was A Very Bad Thing Indeed, and promptly turned Feminax into an upmarket form ... This is the only product I have found that helped me through my period pains. I actually was in Boots to get my prescription for something stronger then nurofen plus as I hadn't slept more then 3 hours in 3 days as a result of having the cramps and my doctor wrote me out a prescription for something beginning with M (cant recall the name, you may be able to!). After travelling to my 3rd branch of boots, I was again told "sorry we are out." At that point, in a store full of people, I burst into tears (I was on a lot of pain and was very tired!). I think the staff were very taken a back- this was a store in the City part of London- people don't ... Read the complete review

Feminax Ultra - simple pain relief for women. For years I have experienced menstrual cramps during my period. I would regularly buy boxes of paracetamol and neurofen curl up on the sofa with a hot water bottle and a pot of tea feeling pretty crap. It did get to a stage when I started taking time off work due to the pain and when I was at work I would be overemotional, unable to concentrate because of the pain. The hubby would recognise the signs and say 'oh the painters are in I am going to play football'. Oh yes I was that bad to be around. During a trip to the chemist, I started chatting to the pharmacist who suggested that I tried Feminax. I ... Read the complete review

I suffer really badly with period cramp pain. I had a coil fitted some years ago, which in the process has left me with cramps so bad at my time of the month that I feel like I am having contractions. It makes it impossible to sit, stand, drive or focus on anything but the pain and i end up just curled up with a hot water bottle. I have tried everything, including a slight overdose of ibruprofen alongside paracetomol. Neither of these worked and only offered a slight improvement although a dull pain was still present. Then a friend recommended me Feminax ultra. Feminax Ultra contains; Naproxen which reduces the production of prostrandins, this helps ... Read the complete review
