Feminax

Description: For period pain.

... administer yourself a dose of two tablets as soon as you feel the first twinges in your stomach. Do NOT wait until it escalates. Feminax took about half an hour to work on me. Once you've had your first dose, take it every four hours until you are confident you won't be in any more pain. When I first started taking it I'd crawl back home in agony from where ever I'd been, drag myself over to the medicine cabinet and then down the pills. I'd then crawl up the stairs, get into bed, writhe for half an hour, and then al...more

Premium Review Feminax: Mocking The Afflicted Since Removing Hyoscine (2582 words)
by - written on 06/07/08 (Very useful, 583 readings)
Rating:

Contrary to popular belief, I am a woman. Quite a womanly woman in fact with a BIG womanly problem, one that I am unfortunate enough to share with thousands of women world wide. Every month, an aunty of mine drops by, an aunty who I hate very, very much. She's not warm and cuddly, or even pretty. In fact, she's sinfully hideous, annoying and painful. She has been known to make me cry. Does it ring a bell, ladies? That thing is aunty flow - well, it's not physically a person. It's the dreaded 'P' - nope, not pain in the butt, although it is that as well. I'm talking about the period or menstruation if you want to be less crass about it. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Like floating on a cloud (552 words)

Every month, for about three days, I used to suffer from heavy bleeding, and some of the worst pain imaginable, until I went on the Pill a while back. I don't like to make sweeping statements like this but I think a lot of women would agree with me that unless you're a woman you wouldn't fully be able to appreciate what it's like. For me, it was like someone was reaching into my lower abdomen and setting fire to my organs, whilst simultaneously attempting to break my back. I got excrutiating pains in my stomach and my back. When I was at school I used to have to go home early or sit in the nurse's office because it totally disabled me. I couldn't ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Feminax: DO THEY WORK? (351 words)
by - written on 24/12/08 (Very useful, 98 readings)

I had never felt the need to take tablets for Period Pain, as I found that normal Ibuprofen worked fine for me. However having been on the Injection for the last 8 years I had never had a Period, so no worries there then, but 15 months ago I came off it and what a nice Christmas present yesterday, I got my first period in 8 years - aaah! Was the pain really ever that bad? I can't remember, but I felt the need to buy something to try and take the ache away. I bought these from Asda and they were sold behind the chemist counter. They cost £2.54 for 20 tablets, which I though was quite expensive, but these things normally are I guess. The ...  Read the complete review

I had always been one of the lucky ones and had never realy suffered any discomfort with my periods untill my second child was born that was, after then my periods got heavier and longer, there was cramping pains in my stomach, my breasts were sore and i suffered severe head aches, after a few months of this i went to see my doctor who recomended these tablets to me so i got them on prescription although they are available to buy over the counter retailing between £2.50 and £5 They come in packs of 20 tablets, you can take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours but no more than 8 tablets in 24 hours and you can only take them for 3 days. Premium Review Feminax - isn't always helpful! (253 words)
by - written on 28/12/08 (Very useful, 72 readings)
Rating:

Each capsule of Feminax contains 500mg of Paracetamol and 8mg of Codeine Phosphate The packet I have has 20 capsules in it, and the recommeneded dose is 1 - 2 capsules every 4-6 hours when necessary, taking no more than 8 day. I can't recall exactly how much it cost, but I would say around £5 possibly. I am extremely unlucky when it comes to periods, I always have been. My aunt was one who fainted when on her period and would sometimes be violently sick, and I seem to take after her and can get very bad at times. I've got a mixed view on Feminax, as there are times when I've taken it and have felt the pain melt away, and there ...  Read the complete review
